  1. Horn, windtalker is correct. The 'other' tribe has a huge pack of land between Pland and Abudwaq. Galkayo is not at the border of Mudug and Galgudud. What lies between is inhabited by the Mogadishu tribe. Even the Reer Goldogob share borders with this tribe. So what the hell are you saying? Pland does not inhabit Southern Mudug, period! You keep ranting Galkayo district, but that part of Galkayo district that perhaps borders you isn't inhabited by Planders. Therefore we share no borders with you. And even if there was a contiguous border between Pland and Abudwaq, the main road goes through the Mogadishu tribe. About Abdullahi Yusuf. Don't be fools! I've seen his power in Pland myself and it's immense. The most dramatic example of his leadership is that every city in Pland he temporarily resides in, may it be Bosaso, Galkayo or Garowe, witnesses a drastic decrease in it's crime rate. No joke. 80% of the Pland military would blindly follow Abdullahi Yusuf's orders, even if he was out of the game. Even I underestimated him before my visit to Somalia. I don't think he's out of the picture, now that he's focused on pacifying the south. Besides believe me Gen Adde Muse's presidency of Pland only means better government, not a anti-Abdullahi Yusuf revolution. The two men are best friends, since their days in the SSDF. They respect each other. Sorry to burst your bubbles.
  2. NAIROBI, 10 Jan 2005 (IRIN) - The interim Somali government is to start relocating from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, where it is currently based, to Somalia within the next three weeks, sources told IRIN on Monday. Somali president, Abdullahi Yusuf, with Alpha Oumar Konare, head of the African Union. The government, other sources added, was likely to move to the Somali capital, Mogadishu. "The government has set the end of January as the tentative date to start the relocation to Somalia," Hussein Jabiri, director of communications in the interim prime minister's office, said. "It will be a gradual relocation." The prime minister, Ali Mohamed Gedi, named a new cabinet on Friday, nearly a month after his initial line-up of 76 was rejected by parliament. There are 42 ministers, 42 assistant ministers and five ministers of state in the new cabinet, Jabiri told IRIN. "I have made this list to the best of my ability," Gedi said while announcing the new team. In rejecting the first line-up, the parliament said clan quotas had been ignored and that the right constitutional procedures were not followed in the selection. "Those given posts will have the task of serving Somalia at a critical time," the interim president, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, told the transitional federal parliament after the new cabinet was announced. "Some [politicians] are unhappy because they are not in the cabinet, but hopefully in [the] future, they will be on the list." One of the Somali faction leaders, Hussein Mohammed Aydid, was made deputy prime minister in charge of home affairs and another influential politician, Mohammed Qanyare Afrah, was given the post of national security minister. Other prominent faction leaders who have joined the cabinet include Muse Sudi Yalahow, Usman Hassan Atto, Hassan Muhammad Nur Shatigadud and Adan Madobe. Abdullahi Shaykh Isma'il, another faction leader, was appointed foreign minister. The new Somali government has come under pressure both from its Kenyan hosts and the international community to move to Somalia and establish itself there. Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki, on 1 January, urged the new government to go back to Somalia, saying "small fights" within their borders should not deter them. "They must return because we were making a government not to stay in Nairobi, but to return home and reconstruct that country," he said. Kibaki's message was emphasised on Tuesday by John Koech, the Kenyan minister of regional cooperation. "It is difficult for the international community to assist the Somali government when they are still in Kenya," Koech said. "The international community has assured us that as soon as the Somali people settle in Somalia, they will get assistance for their own country, which has been destroyed by 14 years of strife," he added. Speaking in Addis Ababa on Thursday, Assane Ba from the African Union's (AU) conflict centre said the new government had indicated it could relocate to Somalia by 21 January. The AU, he added, was planning to deploy an initial contingent of its peacekeeping force to the war-ravaged country by the end of January. Somalia ceased to function as a modern state in 1991 following the overthrow of Mohammed Siyad Barre. Barre's ouster precipitated a ruinous civil war that saw numerous warlords and their militias divide the country into fiefdoms. Yusuf was elected in October by the transitional federal parliament, sitting in Nairobi. The election marked the end of a two-year reconciliation conference sponsored by the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development. The conference brought together representatives from various clans and factions.
  3. This first decree of the new president of Pland, Gen Mahamud Muse Hirsi indicates an important step. That he's not out for GBP hegemony, but he regards the former government as an integral part of his 'team' to solve existing problems in Pland and maximise peace and development in Pland. 4. India or Dusty or whatever the hell you are. Seriously what the hell do you want pumpkin? I don't see why you need to stand up for Juma. Didn't he say he enjoys it. Give him his pleasure. If there's one thing a clown enjoys, it would be attention. And we know how to inject the dose. Now what's your favourite food?
  5. This is where Gen Adde Muse and Eng Hasan Dahir AfQudhac were sworn in today as the president and vice-president of Pland state of Somalia.
  6. Ngonge what's your relationship with Muhammad Moge?
  7. You scored a 50% on the "How Somalian are you?" Quizie! 115 people had a score lower than yours 462 people had a score higher than yours 121 people had a score the same as yours. I am disappointed! Nacla Tula calek!
  8. Oh lord. You are right. Yathrib is the pre-Islamic name of Medina. My bad. He was proud of his whole tribe Quraysh, not just his clan Banu Hashim. Ngonge, I'm not here to educate people. There is a kitaab in every Somali household. I suggest Xoogsade and macalimuu read it than let it collect dust. By the way your questions are just way too challenging and demanding.
  9. Incorporating these districts would be a new headache. Wow smith  We are not thowing insults now, are we? Behave my friend.

  11. Confused. That's the feeling that overtakes my mind when debating with you about these kind of subjects Horn. Abudwaq is indeed behind Pland in terms of development and security. No insult, but fact that is relevant in this discussion. Yet you almost cry like a little girl when this happens. The picture you showed doesn't impress me one bit. Let's just put this disagreement aside. Over to your hilarious statement that it's more in Pland's interest to include Abudwaq district. The only interest for Pland to include Abudwaq is to further it's influence and power on the federal playground. Nothing more. But we know what good it would do for Abudwaq eyh? Let me quote Duke's article, since you find no ounce of truth in my assumptions: Mudane Labaale ayaa waxa uu sheegay in arrintaan ay kula midoobayaan Puntland ay tahay mid ay u door bidayaan maadaama degmooyinkaan aan maamul rasmi ahi ka jirin isla markaana aysan lahayn adeegyadii bulshada sida Waxbarashada ,Caafimaadka iyo dhammaan waxyaabihii loo baahnaa ee adeegyada bulshada ,taas ka sokowna ay arrintaani irdaha u furayso iskaashi iyo nabad gelyo ay ku tallaabsadaan deegaanadaasi. Besides horn be real with me. What are your other alternatives?
  12. macalimuu, you have decided to renounce your qabiil, say, right after you were boasting about the villas in Mogadishu? You're not the first confused Somali and unfortunately not the last. All talk but no action. It's very cheap to say that qabiil is bullshit and to say: "look where it has gotten us". But qabyaalad existed before you and it's a culture deeprooted in the Somali psyche, because we are a people of pride and honour as well as people who live on barren and harsh land. Surviving in Somalia needs teamwork and that team is your qabiil. Why the qabiil. Because all the members have the same mutual interest and if one hurts his qabiil, the fool hurts himself. Contemporary political systems and the abundance of weapons have damaged the fragile balance within the clan system. Ridiculing my statement about the prophet [css] as blasphemous is rich coming from you. I rather drink a glass of hot oil than let the garbage you call posts sink into my mind. We all know that the prophet Muhammad [css] came from the formidable Quraysh tribe, the tribe that was blessed with guarding the city of Yathrib [Mecca] as wel as the keys to the Ka'bah. It was a fact that his tribe was the most noble among the Arab race. The fact that he was aware of it and proud of it, doesn't mean that he was arrogant. Your knowledge is limited, hence your foolish rantings.
  13. I also read this in Allpuntland. I also took hasty conclusions like Smith, but I heard of a lot folks that many Planders are not welcoming towards this area. Even though Pland had invited this area once in the preliminary talks in 1998 to found Pland state, the welcoming attitude of Planders has decreased since those years mainly because of the loss of Kismayo. I personally am for the inclusion of this area to Pland, but this area will have a difficult time integrating into the Pland system. Unlike in 1998 they won't have much bargaining power [believe me the Kismayo card won't work in putting pressure on Garowe] added with the difficult geographical location as an enclave outside Pland proper and lower level of development and security than even the most underdeveloped regions of Pland, Mudug, Sool, Sanaag and Ayn. I believe their inclusion will benefit both groups. The decision lies not with president of Somalia nor the president of Pland, but with the house of elders and representatives of Pland whom represent the people of Pland.
  14. Some of you cut the bullshit. We are muslims and therefore we take our prophet Muhammad [css] as an example in how we live our life. The prophet [css] never renounced his qabiil and moreover was proud of the qabiil he hailed from, being aware that it was the most noble tribe of the Arab race. Therefore I personally find renouncing your qabiil as absurd as renouncing your country of origin. You are who you are and words cannot change that. Qabiil shall always be the backbone of our culture, we don't need to ban it nor do we need to learn to live with it. We merely have to stop abusing it.
  15. Garad Abdiqani and Sool in general were always very close with Gen Adde Muse. As I'm writing this private militias of Gen Adde Muse are added to the Pland defense foces to defend Sool. In Somali context a most noble gesture. Here he is sitting in the front row with the Rer Sool tribal leaders. Garad Saleban of the Nugal Valley [at his left] is an adament Abdullahi Yusuf supporter, Garad Abdiqani [with the large beard] of the Hawd Plateau is fiercely anti-Abdullahi Yusuf and next to garad Abdiqani is Sultan Usman and he's dhexdhexaad. Looks like Gen Adde Muse lobbied very well in Sool and stole the heart of Las Anod.

  18. ^^^ Like what? To retreat his personal militia in Adhi Cadeye who are given orders to slaughter Sland forces when attacked? The man is not a child. He scolded Sland for helping him on SBC Radio, saying that the government only helped him to wage war on his own brethren. He only keeps the true brothers, Rer El Afweyn in honour.

  21. January 08, 2005 - 01:36 Remote Somali village reels from latest hardship USA Today, 7 Dec. 2004= By Rob Crilly, Special for USA TODAY = When the wave first swept through Foar, a village of 1,000 on Somalia's Indian Ocean coast, it carried lobsters halfway up the hillside. At first, fishermen scooped the bounty into their nets and gave praise to Allah. Then the waves returned twice more. Foar was gone. The village of stick-and-mud huts was swamped by the Asian tsunami Dec. 26, which traveled 3,750 miles from Indonesia to batter the African coast. Salah Shino, 70, was in his hut about 100 yards from what should have been the high-water mark. "We heard a woman crying, rushed out and saw the sea coming in and up," he said. Salah and others scrambled up a 100-foot escarpment. The water poured 200 yards inland and halfway up the hill, where hundreds of families huddled. As the sea receded, it filled wells with saltwater, swept 50 boats off the beach and destroyed more than 25 homes. Now, there is little fresh water or food, and the men have lost their livelihood. By the time the tsunami waters hit Somalia, TV was broadcasting non-stop coverage of the disaster in India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Kenya, to the south of Somalia, had time to recall its fishing boats and close its tourist beaches. There was no warning in Somalia, where there has been no formal government since 1991, when dictator Mohamed Siad Barre was overthrown. At least 298 died here, far fewer than in Asia. But tens of thousands of people may be homeless and without food or fresh water. Since Siad Barre's overthrow, Somalia has been splintered into fiefdoms run by rival warlords. In the capital, Mogadishu, U.S. Army Rangers on a peacekeeping mission in 1993 were ambushed by mobs as they tried to rescue the pilots of a downed Black Hawk helicopter. A new Somali government that was established in neighboring Kenya aims to go home and re-establish order by the end of the month. In the meantime, banditry and corruption are rife. Anti-aircraft batteries have prevented aid officials from flying over the coast to assess the tsunami's devastation. The people of Foar are in one of the world's most-remote regions, 250 miles from the nearest airstrip. The 10-hour journey through semi-arid scrubland can be made only with armed escorts. The kingdom of Puntland, which includes Foar, is at war with the neighboring kingdom of Somaliland. kingdoms kulaha. The tsunami was the third recent blow to hit a country torn apart by war. Drought has ravaged the country for the past four years. In November, heavy rains brought floods, killing thousands of goats - the lifeblood of rural Somalia. Maulid Warfa, program officer for the World Food Program in Somalia, said the population has run out of survival strategies. "In the absence of state institutions, people rely on local support networks. As time goes on, the more it weakens," he said. "So now, with this tsunami coming at the best time for fishing, all those people who were supported by the fishermen need another support group." As desperate as the situation is here, it appears to be better than in some of the more-remote areas. The World Food Program is using Foar as an aid-distribution center for its teams, which have spread out along the coastline to assess the damage. Adding to the problem of providing relief: incomplete data on the coastal population. "We have estimates," Warfa said. "But nobody really knows yet how many people are affected." As the devastated beach at Foar was lit by the star-speckled sky, an aid truck returned from Hafun - a narrow peninsula that bore the brunt of the sea's surge. The truck, which had delivered sacks of rice, lentils and corn, was full of refugees when it returned to Foar. Dawla Ali, 23, stepped onto the beach with her daughter Nasra, 18 months, and viewed the shore littered with shredded nets and wrecked homes as if it were the promised land. "I have come here because it is a safer place," she said. "There are mountains here, and we can reach safety. Hafun is flat and open. I am afraid the tsunami will happen again." * Foar in Somali Focaar is located near Eyl and is one of the villages swept by the Tsunami. Foar, Hafun, Garacad, Kulub are currently receiving emergency relief and are to receive a part of the long term rebuilding programme wich will rebuild the fishing sector as well as water, sanitation, health and education. India's refused share is believed to increase Somalia's funds.

Let me react on those fantastic goals of Gen Adde Muse. It sounded like music to my ears. 1. True, Abdullahi Yusuf has left a heritage of corruption and intransparency when he became the president of Somalia. 2. True, I always had the idea that there is much quantity and not enough quality. I can understand that quality was not of the essence when Abdullahi Yusuf reigned, but Pland has entered a new level. The military, police and prison guards need to be inflated and upgraded. 3. True, We should handle this matter diplomatically. Attacking the Sland forces is not effective and we will risk paying a large price for our goal. Yet if our demands are not met, we have to spread our action of full control of urban strongholds such as Las Anod, Buhodle, Hudun, Badhan, Las Qoray etc to the rest of the occupied districts including East and South Erigavo under Garowe. 4. True, Pland has much economic potential. 5. True, the past governments were more of security councils who were solely responsible of security. Like I said before, Abdullahi Yusuf's government was a raw kind of maamul. 6. True, Pland should become an annoying nagger when it comes to rebuilding and development programmes. Even though the president is from Pland, Pland should fiercely observe the allocation of funds and take what it deserves.
  24. Hambalyo! The new and third president of Pland; Gen Adde Muse. I must admit I was for Muhammad Abdi Hashi for strategic reasons, but I realise that Gen Adde Muse was the inevitable victor. Didn't know that he used to be the governor of Sanaag. No wonder he has such a good relationship with Reer Maakhir Koos.
