PM Geedi to visit Mogadishu, Badoa and Kismayu soon
Nationalist replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Also he is from one of the most powerful clan groupings in Mogadishu and no doubt will be welcomed there. Don't be modest with the new government's success Smith. No doubt he comes from the most powerful clan grouping in Mogadishu. -
Have there been better politicians than the above named ?. Well, many Somalis from all tribes would tell you the best politician would be Abdirizaq Haji Hussein. I'll let someone else post a piece about him.

Here is my contribution mate! Aden Abdullah Osman : H.E. Aden Abdullah Osman was born at Belet Weyne (Hiran Region). After receiving education at State Schools, he acquired administrative experience in Government oficies. He subsequently devoted himself to his own business. In Febraury 1944, he joined the Somali Youth Club (subsequently called Somali Youth League), became a member of the party's steering board and in 1946 was appointed Secreatry of the Belet Weyne section of the party. In 1951 the Regional Council of Mudug designated him for the Territorial Council on which he served uninterruptedly (up to February 1956) as the representative of the S.Y.L. In 1953 he was appointed Vice-President of the Territorial Council. In 1954 he became the President of the Somali Youth League and remained office untill 1956. Re-elected to the same position in May 1958, he occupied this post simultaneously with the post of the President of the Legislative Assembly until 1st July 1960. In 1956, when the Territorial Council was replaced by Legislative Assembly, he was elected member of the National Assembly for Belet Weyne District at the general political elections, and in meantime the Legislative Assembly appointed him its President. In the 1959 general political elections, he was again elected member of the National Assembly, which again appointed him Presedent. He maintained this post when the Legislative Assembly was converted into the Consituent Assembly. In his capacity as President of the Constituent Assembly, on 1st July 1960, he proclaimed the Independence of the Somali Republic and following the unification of the northern and southern territories - former British Somaliland and Italian Somaliland. The National Assembly chose him as Provisional President of the Republic for period of 1 year, and in 1961 re-elected him to the same mandate for 6 years. He devoted his interest to legal, social and economic studies. Besides Somali, he speaks Italian, English and Arabic. According to the Constitution of the Republic, the out-going President enjoyed life-membership of the Somali National Assembly (Article 51, paragraph 4). Abdirashid Ali Shermake : H.E. Abdirashid Ali Shermake was born in 1919 at Haradere in the district of Obbia. After having attended Quranic schools, he completed his elementary education 1936. From 1937 to 1943 he became a trader and later a Civil Servant in the then Italian Administration. At the same time, he brought his educational standard up to Intermediate level. He joined the Somali Youth League (SYL) immediately after its foundation in 1943. He entered the British Administration Civil Service in 1944. He completed his secondary education in 1950-53 while still Civil Servant, and got a scholarship to the University of Rome where he graduated in political science in 1958. One year later after returing from Italy, he was elected to the then Legislative Assembly from Gardo as SYL member in 1959. He thus terminated fifteen years in the Civil Service. Immediately after Independence on July 1st 1960, he was nominated by President Aden Abdullah Osman as Prime Minister, a position he held until March 1964 when the first General Elections were held. He was re-elected to Parliament from his old constituency. On August 20, 1959 he had been among the first politicians who demanded independence before the targeted date of 31st December, 1960. As Prime Minister, Abdirashid travelled abroad extensively in pursuit of a non-aligned and neutral foriegn policy. Although the ruling SYL Party recommended him to be re-nominated as Prime Minister by a large majority, President Aden Abdullah Osman invited Abdirazak Haji Hussein to form a cabinet in which Abdirashid was not member. Mohamed Haji Ibrahim Egal : Hon. Mohamed was born in Odweina on August 15, 1928. He completed his primary, intermediate, and secondary education in former British Somaliland and then went to Britain for further studies where he stayed from 1950-54. On June 26, 1960, when the country gained independence, Egal became the Prime Minister of Somaliland. After the Union and the formation of the Somali Republic, he was nominated Minister for Defence in the Cabinet of Abdirashid Ali Shermake. After one year, Egal was nominated Minister for Education in the same Government. In October 1962 Egal led a delegation to London to negotiate the NFD problem with British leaders. His delegation persuaded and obtained from the British Government a referendum in the Northern Frontier District (NFD). In the same period, he led another delegation to Kenya to organize the referendum which found 83% in favour of joining with the Somali Republic. In October 1966, he joined the Somali Youth League party. Finally, he became the third Prime Minister of Somali Republic in 1967. Abdullahi Issa Mohamud : Hon. Abdullahi was born in 1922 at Afgoi. The second world war broke out while he was still a student. After he turmoiled of the war years, he joined the SYL from its onset. He became one of the leaders of the party and was eventually appointed Secretary-General. He went to Paris and New York as an SYL delegate to proclaim the right of the Somali people to independence. After election as an SYL deputy in the political elections of 1956. Hon. Abdullahi was called in the same year to form Somalia's first Government, thus becoming the first Prime Minister. In the Government formed after Somalia's Independence in July 1960, he was appointed Foreign Minister. In this capacity he took part in many international conventions, in particular the U.N. General Assembly and the African conferences of Lagos, Addis Abeba, Dakar and Other. In the general election of March 1964 he was returned to the National assembly as an SYL deputy for Beled Weyne.

News Flash gentlemen! Two former Sland officials have joined Pland after consultation with their respective constituencies. The two are Aqil Abdirisaq Jama Abdi Bile, now former speaker for Sool in the Sland parliament, and Qamandi Saleban Ali. Aqil Abdirisaq said that he joined Sland in the fist place, because he thought it would benefit his clan more than Pland. He realized that Sland is a qabiil state when people from Abdullahi Yusuf's tribe were treated drastically different in a negative way after Abdullahi Yusuf's election to president of Somalia. Qamandi Saleban uttered the same kind of words. Left Qamandi Saleban and Aqil Abdirisaq Jama on entrance to Pland controlled Sool to join the grand meeting of isims of Pland wich is meant to strengthen the unity and stance of Pland in general. Are they aware a snake is luring over them in the tree? HornAfrique, apologies for the Pland injection I just gave you?

Lol at Ngonge. That letter was quite funny mate.
-
Bari Nomad, I never said it's a wise decision. I only said that I didn't object to it. I'm sure Abdullahi Yusuf has included his son for a reason. To quote the president: "I could bring the government to Pland, wich is Somali soil, right now. But I won't for it's the land I'm born from". A man who says this must have a valid reason to include his son. A reason that we are about to behold.
-
Perhaps not Ngonge, but suffice to say that you should not mistake me with some of the dimwits here. Here is another topic of mine about Pland. Link to thread It's negative, perhaps just the way you like it. I might be mistaken of course. Lander, have you noticed as well? I can name numerous of articles in wich Pland is described as a breakaway republic. I can say with an absolute certainty that it's not Pland's goal to be equated with Sland. I would say it's more of a disastrous blow to our patriotic image to be synonymous with Sland.

Have some of us reached the tips of paranoia mountains by even objecting a president without official staff yet, to place the burden of merely running an arron to his son? Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed has appointed a delegation that includes one of his sons Ahmed Abdullahi Yusuf to represent the president of Somalia in the fund transfer. Ahmed Abdullahi Yusuf has the merits to be burdened with this responsibilty and he proved his loyalty to the Somali people in Pland development activities. As long as the fund is to benefit the people of Somalia mates. And to the ones who are eager for the new Somali government to fail miserably under Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed's tutelage. I advise you not to humiliate yourself by searching minor details to further discredit a government that has yet to pass embryo status and in the same time is the last hope to all Somalis for peace and genuine development. Bear that in mind mates!

You two have to admit, our brothers in the north west do have the upper hand in the lobby and promotion department. It's just that the international community is on 'our' side, otherwise Sland would have been recognized as an independant country sooner or later. I can't understand why the north west Somalis vehemently rule out special sovereignty in the form of an autonomous federal state of Somalia such as Pland?

I just found out about a business deal made between the governments of Pland and Ethiopia. I believe this deal is a total outrage if it's all that meets the eye. It might be a steppping stone to good trade links between Pland and Ethiopia or there might be even advantages for Pland that this article doesn't show. Is it me or has the Pland government disappointed us since the 10 october election of former Pland president Abdullahi Yusuf? Perhaps I should give Muhammad Abdi Hashi more time, but how much time does the old chap need? Article: http://allafrica.com/stories/200411170338.html AllPuntland on this matter: http://allsomalianews.com/news1/news/news_item.asp?NewsID=3280 Dinsho to Awash Puntland With Ethiopian Khat Addis Fortune (Addis Ababa) November 14, 2004 Posted to the web November 17, 2004 Bahru Temesgen An Ethiopian company involved in the export of khat to neighbouring Djibouti, Biftu-Dinsho, has entered into a landmark deal with a company based in the self-styled autonomous region of Puntland to export khat worth 270,000 dollars a day. This is the first time that an Ethiopian company has entered into the Puntland market, which has a population of 2.5 million. Puntland is a region located in north-eastern Somalia centred on its capital Garoowe. For the past 15 years it has tried to survive as a pocket of stability in the collapsed state of Somalia. It was notable for the few days of independence it enjoyed in 1960. Following the demise of the government of Siad Barre in 1991, war-torn Somalia disintegrated and fell into the hands of several warlords. Seven years later, however, in Puntland declared autonomy under the leadership of Abdulahi Yusuf. Abdulahi was accorded head of state treatment in Ethiopia two weeks ago during a working visit, after he was elected as president by a newly constituted parliament gathered in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, to re-establish the state of Somalia. He has been waiting to move to the troubled capital of Mogadishu, where security has yet to be guaranteed for the safety of the new government's leaders. Although the sight of people carrying guns is normal in the streets of Garoowe, residents claim their city is one of the safest places in Somalia. "It might look scary for an outsider," said Jama Dualle, a Somali national in Ethiopia, but he told Fortune that in today's Puntland one can even see businesses growing, despite militias walking around market places carrying their guns. "But as far as the Somalis are concerned, whether the gun is shooting or silent has simply become a part of daily life." It is the growing market, partly supported by 800 million dollars remittance revenue, that Biftu-Dinsho aims to grab. It signed an agreement with SOMEHT, a private company in Garoowe, on November 03, 2004, to export close to 7,000Kg of khat to Puntland. A business delegation from Puntland, led by Abdi Nur Elemi, minister of Commerce and Industry, was in Addis last week to establish a trade link with Ethiopia through Biftu-Dinsho, an endowment company affiliated with the ruling party. It was established in 1994 with an initial capital of 7.9 million Br and has its headquarters in Western Harargie, Chiro town. Dinsho Plc, one of the five shareholders, controls 50pc of the Company while Shiferaw Jarso, minister of Water Resources, owns a single share that has a value of 1,000 Br. Invited by Puntland's administration, managers of Biftu-Dinsho, together with a parliamentarian observer, visited Garoowe in July 2004. They concluded a memorandum of understanding for SOMETH to supply the Ethiopian company with fish and sea products, gums, semi-processed hides and skins as well as edible salt. In exchange, Puntland has agreed to import livestock (cattle, goats and camels), khat, tea and sugar, vegetables, spices and other agricultural products from Ethiopia. This has been taken as a historic move for both parties in the effort to build a stable and peaceful Somalia, according to Medhane Tadesse, a specialist on the Horn of Africa. He has noticed that a dynamic and powerful business class has been emerging in the hidden economy of Somalia over the last seven years. "It is dynamic because political power is being shifted from warlords and militias to the private sector," he told Fortune. Apart from the absence of tax and the existence of a porous border, the Somalis' entrepreneurial skills have enabled them to integrate into the economy of the Gulf States, said Medhane. Paying attention, as well as drawing out the cooperation of this sector, will eventually put the bilateral relations with Ethiopia on a firm footing. He reminded the Ethiopian banking sector to consider Somalia's estimated 800 million dollars remittance economy, and advised the business community to make business with them. Wegagen, a private bank also affiliated to the ruling party, seems to be the first to have embarked onto this potential market Medhane said is emerging. SOMETH has agreed to transfer payments five days prior to Biftu-Dinsho exporting the khat and this will be renewed every three days. The Company will make the transfer through Dahbshi and Amel, international money transfer companies, whose Ethiopian agent is Wegagen Bank. A private air service from Djibouti, Djibouti Airways, is in negotiations to provide charter flights to SOMETH to transport the product from Dire Dawa to Bosasso via Garoowe. The Ethiopian office of Djibouti Airways confirmed to Fortune that the deal is in progress, although the arrangements have not yet been fimalised. This is not a deal without opposition. Other khat exporters, based in Dire Dawa, seem unhappy about the exclusive deal the two companies have entered into. Absheye Elmie, chairman of the Ethiopian Khat Exporters in Dire Dawa, voiced his dissatisfaction with both parties that the deal undermines the basic principles of a free market. There are about four khat exporters in Dire Dawa who export to Djibouti. Biftu-Dinsho is one of them. Absheye said Biftu-Dinsho is trying to amass all the business transactions alone, under a pretext that everyone is entitled to do business in a free market. He alleged the business agreement between Biftu-Dinsho and SOMETH is politically driven. A representative of the Dire Dawa Chamber of Commerce said they are not officially aware of the agreement.

Smith, brother I honestly have no problems with Horn nor Rahima. Perhaps my remark about Barahley went out of line, but since they are proud Rer Mudugh, I assumed they would know that Rer Mudugh take pleasure out of teasing and tease back when teased. Kind of a test really. And unfortunately Rahima failed miserably, but Horn was ok. Bari Nomad, yes indeed mate Bari is quite the exotic paradise the average human being would be longing for. Hope that Bari stays a secret paradise. We don't want to be invaded, do we mate?
-
Juma, dear boy you're the least of all who has the right to call another tribalist. Opposing a government because the president happens to be from a certain qabiil, while for many unfortunate Somalis whom don't live in a cozy house in London, it's their last and only hope to a future. About this WD ghost you seem to mistake me with. Don't go there mate.
-
That you two force yourself to reply to topics that do not interest you, absolutely amazes me. You two chose to click on a topic with a title as clear as daylight. No wait, it doesn't amaze me at all. I have teased you two innocently in another thread, thus this is the result.
-
When did I say Rahima is not Rer Mudugh because of her qabiil? Anyway as I said earlier I found it to be remarkable that people are in line parading "I'm Rer Mudugh hooray!" now that a Rer Mudugh is the president of Somalia. I could be wrong, you tell me mate. My subclan occupies the largest part of Mudugh compared to other subclans in the whole Mudugh region. Just because our part of Mudugh is just a part of our main tribal land doesn't mean we're less Rer Mudugh than the ones whom have no land outside Mudugh. Lest not forget there's a large difference between Rer Woqoyi and Rer Mudugh. The Rer Woqoyi even from different tribes live in peace and intermarry. The Rer Mudugh only live in peace and intermarry when they're from the same tribe. I'm just proud I'm from the hilly side of Mudugh that flows to the hills and mountains up north. Being stubborn is not a Rer Mudugh trait, being proud as I am however is indeed a Rer Mudugh trait.
-
Than why did you step into my house with dirty socks if whatever I say is Ok? I suggest you stop rolling your eyes. It's a feminin trait.
-
I concur Galgudud is Mudugh land, yet you always identified yourself as Rer Galgudud not Rer Mudugh till well over Abdullahi Yusuf's election to president of Somalia. I just found it rather remarkable, that's all mate. But Rahima's quick and more drastic hunger for Rer Mudughnimo amused me even more, to say the least.
-
No offense, but look further than the length of your nose. This is about Pland elections and wether you like it or not it's a big issue within Somali politics.
