Originally posted by Guardian n Protector: I once had a man with qaat on one hand advicing me to wear the hijab. heh. ...and would that advice have been more accurate coming from the imam of your local mosque? You should have thanked him for his concern and in return advised him to quit the drug and make something of his life. So is it accurate to say that he cared about you enough to ask you to do something right and you didn't care about him enough to do the same?
  2. GnP, what would make it right? Would it be ok to comment on a mini-skirt and tube top? Under what circumstance would you, GnP, go up to a fellow somali woman and say, "sister, I don't think wearing ________ is appropriate? would you do something like that to make your opinion know? or would you just think it and superficially smile at her?
  3. "Mourn not the dead that in the cool earth lie, but rather mourn the apathetic, throng the coward and the meek who see the world's great anguish and its wrong, and dare not speak." Author: Ralph Chaplin what are you talking about? I don't really object when people offer me general advice, it's just when they make personal remarks and make assumptions about me and my faith that really bothers me. I know, if you're wearing as much metal chains as I am, you're bound to get weird looks and comments Like the woman for example, a while ago, who felt compelled to drop her groceries and run to me from across the street and tell me point blank that she did not like the shoes I was wearing because they were drawing too much attention. It's just those heavy metal keychains that dangle on the side of my trousers, and spiky metal armbands and suchlike. I don't wear them all the time, only when I feel a bit rebellious APATHY ap·a·thy 1. Lack of interest or concern, especially regarding matters of general importance or appeal; indifference. 2. Lack of emotion or feeling; impassiveness. I don't believe you girls will actually stand around here and critizes your own people for having the guts to speak up against something they think is wrong. Granted they may not be going about it the right way, but niether are you. You should all be glad you belong to a brotherhood/sisterhood that is willing to say something to you when you may be doing something wrong. Apathy and indifference is the biggest reason this 1st world society is becoming morally bankrupt...None of you care what anyone does!!!! The "As long as it doesn't affect me" mentality is choking the humanity out of you. "Furthermore, when a person puts on the clothes usually worn by scholars, he may feel himself as somehow closer to them, because similarity and imitation in outward appearance leads to resemblance in inward characteristics such as personal characteristics and morals, as is witnessed in reality and is confirmed by Islaamic jurisprudence and common sense. In the old times, it was said: ‘Birds of a feather flock together’; this is a realistic proverb which conforms to the manner in which Allaah has formed His creation. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam spoke the truth when he said: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them." (Ahmad & Abu Dawood)" (http://www.alminbar.com/khutbaheng/184.htm). Advice will always be given...whether you take it or not is your issue, but don't fault your elders for having the courage to speak up for what the believe.
  4. I'm not really a fan of Manga but you should definately watch Ninja Scroll.... It's CRAZY.

See what I mean by Lack of organizational skills? you haven't made a clear agenda for your group yet you've started banning members....hahahahahaha.
  6. I guess this little exchange of dim words is what passes for flirting these days.... .... And I'm the one who lives in a cave....... Him: -You're a feminist, but I somehow can't stop hanging around you and watching what you say Her: -Well, You're cheap and your shirts all wrinkly but I really don't mind hanging out here with you. -oooh you like him. -No I don't... but he's a nice guy -She wants you, dude -Yeah, well I don't want her...she smells like flowers. kindergarten all over again. ****Back to the Cave****
  7. As Much as I would like to say I missed you all...TSK TSK TSK. I'd actually be worried by this little "plan" if it wasn't for the fact that you lasses couldn't plan a tea party let alone a revolution. In expressing MY opinion: If any of you had the skill required to "use the state women are in to your advantage, if you focus on the positives rather than the negatives." you would have seen the errors of your undomesticated ways and we would be eating bariis at your wedding rather than laughing at your epiphany. Its ironic how the only way women can revolt is if they're led by a man.... ****Back to the cave****
  8. I guess it's true what the say about mens selective hearing (reading in this case) Speaking of selective hearing/reading and seeing as how you're immune to it maybe you just intentionally ignored the primary reason of Balsam's post which was NOT a cry for help but rather words of caution for those following in her footsteps. I wouldn't try any kind of psychology on you... The questions I posed are very legitimate and it's obvious (even in my selective reading state) that you have no answers for them. So you choose to address a separate matter. I'm not trying to be difficult, walaal, I'm just saying there's more than point of view and it won't kill you to consider the other side of the coin.
  9. I understand you guys are trying to help the sister but what's up with the "you don't have to rush" "You have a lot of time" mentality? I think most of you are missing the point here. Balsam is trying to advise you young ladies that you shouldn't delay in getting married. Why is 'securing' your future more important that having a family? Remember Marriage is half your diin. Who pushed the marrying age back to late twenties? Considering the fact the Allah Kareem gave you the abity to give birth in your teens, What's wrong with getting married at 19 or 21? Do you girls and guys honestly think that there is ANYTHING you can do in your life that is more important than raising a Islamic Family? Illahay kabaqa, and check your priorites. We're only here to serve and fear Allah. Balsam, wax kasto waa qoranyihiin. Make your choices based on what you think is right. most of the advise you're getting here is from people who are now somewhere you've already been and are still holding on to the same mentality you had. Abaayo, you've given them the message whether they take it or not is up to them.
  10. Simply, kuwa qaraka keligood kadhacay iyo kuwa lagatuure aan kaharney. wax fiican hadad kuaragtid meelahas telegraf noo soo geli nalasocodsii garab, saaxib, new schoolka aa meesho wadid iga leexi. inta ilbaxnimada cosmopolitan iyo GQ kabartey iyo kuwa wareersan aa loogutalagaley.

Geed aa la idinkuxirtay... Oh studies show "Forty thousand children starve to death on this planet every day," That's 14.6 mil a yr. Now I ask you , honestly,at anytime in your life and most of you have been to so many places in africa (see SOL WORLD ATLAS) have you witnessed ONE just ONE Starving child...out of 14.6 mil a yr someone must have seen ONE. Lets not be sheep and follow the leader, you some intelligence and question some of the data their shovelling around. faqriga dhan aa qalad kafahanteen masee wareerki aa batay
  12. Hey, someone signed up on Skype as Somaliaonline... isn't that some kind of TM infraction?
  13. Gaaladii okale aa igu noqotay...qaarada dan aa hal wadan ka dhigtay. Wadan wadan hadii aad ufirisid, 54 countries... how many of the countries below fall in that emergency "everyones about to die" list? Algeria | Angola | Benin | Botswana | Burkina Faso | Burundi | Cameroon | Cape Verde | Central African Republic | Chad | Comoros | Congo-Brazzaville | Congo-Kinshasa | Côte d'Ivoire | Djibouti | Egypt | Equatorial Guinea | Eritrea | Ethiopia | Gabon | Gambia | Ghana | Guinea | Guinea-Bissau | Kenya | Lesotho | Liberia | Libya | Madagascar | Malawi | Mali | Mauritania | Mauritius | Morocco | Mozambique | Namibia | Niger | Nigeria | Rwanda | Sao Tome-Principe | Senegal | Seychelles | Sierra Leone | Somalia | South Africa | Sudan | Swaziland | Tanzania | Togo | Tunisia | Uganda | Western Sahara | Zambia | Zimbabwe All these countries when you look at them individually the majority of the population is not stuck in a refugee camp lining up for rations while big ugly flies swarm over thier kids faces. Consider poverty in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador, all of central America, majority of the population in India, Bangladesh, Sri lanka, Philipines etc etc...get my point? Waxa laga gedaayo ufirso. Don't just buy into everything you're fed.
  14. These guys are not joking. There's an Emirates company called Nakheel and you should see all the projects they have either going or coming soon.
  15. Yes you can but you have to buy credits to call a land line or a cell phone.
  16. isn't whey xaraam???? made from pig milk by-products??? You should look into that.
  17. ^^ of course you'll be in your 20s (isn't 24 a reoccuring yr?) You'll probably be 28 when your kids are in their mid 20s.
  18. The main issue here is Consequences of neglect. When you engage in illegal sexual conduct, one of the negative consequences is infection from an STD. You know how it goes "you play with fire...." Since they're handing out condoms, maybe they should extend their humanitarianism and start handing out bulletproof vests to the moriaan at road blocks...saving lives right?
  19. I politely disagree. You can't point at a whole country. The point I'm trying to make is - In every country in the world there is a class structure that separates the wealthy from the poor. There's no difference in this case. Waa ogolahay there is some people who haven't eaten in 3 days, laakin I'm against the image that the WHOLE country is at the door step of death. Ufiirso waxa aan leyahay, I'm against the extreme portrayal of cudur and gaajo... Waxaan wax cusub miyaa? waagi aan joogney kuligeen ma cudur aa na haaye? Canjeeradi iyo hilibki aa maalin walba isla dhigeesay ma xisaabsano miya? Masee marki aad so tagtey aa starvation iyo diseaseka kusodegeen wadamada dan. I'm sorry if I sound difficult, but all I'm saying is we've been there and it hasn't been that long that we don't remember. Lets try and qualify the facts before we blindly nod and agree with general steroetypical analysis made by people who aren't there and people who have a vested interest in showing the bad while hiding the good.
  20. If you get down to the basic numbers, Yes there's more poverty in Africa than Europe or America. I don't contest that but I do contest the image that is sold to citizens of the world that the entire continent is starving to death and doesn't 2 cents to rub together.
  21. ^^ I wouldn't go so far is to say it's the truth. Thats just the sterotypical image the first world has labelled on Africa and now our own kids are buying into it. There's always a certain portion of the population that's 'down-trodden' and in dire need of basic human services. However, I don't think applying a term as general as "Africans" is necessary or warranted. If we applied the same narrow minded thinking to the 1st world, it would be easy to say Americans are all trailer trash and alcoholic meth-junkies (see the TV show Cops for reference) and in EU Countries such as Portugal, Greece and most parts of Spain the peasants have never seen indoor plumbing and electricity is a new thing to them in the 21st century. Poverty is NOT determined by geographical location and I think we should try to remind to keep an open mind.
