  1. Germantown can be scary.I live Roxborrough area, but usually go there especially fridays to an Arabic take-out food place called Al-salam after classes..I might be wrong, but I think he is a visiting Imam from England (So I had )...You still haven't defined the URAAGO word for me...I promise I wouldn't take an offense..lol
  2. Poker, I could be one of those Uragoos(I still don't get the meaning of the word)...This Somali Imam is originally from England. He is at Masjid Sunnatu-Nabawiyyah that is on Germantown avenue.I was there today and he gave some dacwa.I have been to the one at Walnut and 43rd near UPEN area. The other one you talking about i have prayed there on EID.It is NEAR the cousins store (predominantly Palestinians congregation).
  3. Poker, who are these URAAGOS?Just Curious. I met few Somalis who live here in Philly and New Jersey area.Mostly are students and working people with no families.BTW the leading Imaam here in Philly is Somali dude whom most of the African Americans Salafi muslims love and admire. His name is Hassan Sumaalee (as in Somali)..
  4. Libax, Since she is from Kaladelphia (I learned this from my hindi speaking folks...racist SOBs) She could be an African American who is a MUSLIM....
  5. ^ Warya, why do I care about a decision made by an adult..I doubt if I have the right to question her CHOICE afterall she is already with the guy.I don't know her and I doubt if I really care whether she sleeps with the next ajnabi that knocks on her door...Yes i would be disapointed and frustrated if she was my next of kin, but she is NOT.So i don't give a hoot about who she unbuttons her pants for!
  6. Preach on brother..the high Priest of the church of the painful truth..Waar aniggu wa dayuus number 1 ..lol

  11. What about the status of the person paying the dowry? Is it less for student and young people and more for the financially capable? Serenity, as someone who was engaged last summer I think it all depends on the girl's family...Sometimes the student status doesn't help especially when everyone knows that you have a potential of making more money once you finish school.I was presured by family members to negotiate with my wife, but I refused to do so because I think it is the Woman's right to ask for whatever she deems is right....Now I didn't get unreasonable range from my wife, but I saved a face by not caring what she was gonna ask(and looking CHEAP).AS long as the two people are normal I think it would not be difficult to reach a compromise..BUT be WARN family members can put you in fire sometimes

  17. Hahaa...funny thread.I married a Mlendo/Mareykan girl So I guess I'm safe from this khuraafaat....the only concern I got from my family was that walendo women don't cook at home...I have been told that I'll be calling out for take-out food for my guest (lets hope this will never happen and I'll not be the talk of the family)...Who cares I'm safe from witchcraft j/k

  19. Lol@ Che, I can honestly say that this was one of the few times that the TOLKA will help you and speak for your behalf. My sijuiness was not an issue at all.Although she was from the same clan as me, but still my sub-clan had to ask for hands in marriage. It was beautiful watching people do the culture stuff!
