^ The praying man caught me off-guard, but I guess to each his own...I read the fictional story in Kite Runner, but I was surprised shit happens in real life!
-
^I think It was banned when the Taliban were in power.I guess it has re-emerged after the Taliban lost power.I wonder how the self-righteous men and women of Afghanistan can tolerate with smugness this illicit sex trade?
-
^ I guess they are in the same league with the catholic priests.Preying on little poor boys is totally wrong in all cultures. They totter on the brink of darkness ......Nacala kutalaa

^ How about brothers selling red rosses outside the masjid after friday prayers...Haha..I just can't picture the masjid arena as a lovey-dovey...Philly is a vibrant city.Though I hardly get out and enjoy the beauty of the city, but I try to get around whenever I have free time.....stay away from the bean pies lol
-
^ Looks like Detroit..I have been to that mosque...I see Danny Glover and Nia Long there...Where I live in Philly I can hardly walk a mile without seeing a Hijabi....Islam is beautiful!

I thought this sort of things happened in Fiction alone (Does the Kite Runner ring a bell here?) Truthfully Every society can be bankrupt of any general moral principles and values. No one society is the free and adored center of values.Where is the Taliban when you need them? Heh?

I'll wallow into the sticky mud of attacking a whole people like you and say what if I tell you that GREED has been the motivating factor of the people you are praising for us?It doesn't take a deep intuition to figure out that the dominant role they take on politics, education and money has been their guiding force to success generation after generation.Though they have alienated themselves by worshiping money as the all powerful master it has given them victory time and again! Their money and greed has transformed them into loved or cursed. Its not like they are supermen. They are human being just like the Arabs you hate dummy!

Waarya B thanks for clarifying this immediate concern.I was really stressed about your identity.I'm sure your appetite for sharing your personal life mishaps has confused me to the point of thinking you were a midget passing off as a Ali dheree...Many in this forum have guided your naivete and kept your eyes and ears open to the reality of life.Your childlike innocence is excused so don't explain yourself anymore.Out of curiosity how old are you? PS: Be friends with Ngonge he will transform you into an adept counter-puncher when more life telling blows comes on your way son!

^ You always have no "Idea" of what you talking about you senile old man..leave the Somali language to experts like me... PS I'm kicking AND screaming to get up for eight o'clock class this morning!

Haha..this was a buffoon! There are far more disease, roaches, rattle snakes and rats in the US than in my old African neighborhood.Having worked in a health care setting I see everyday far more contagious disease in my daily encounter than I'd have in an African village where I'd only worry about occasional malaria....Somone should B!tch slap that negro!
-
Heh..I'm sure they are far too many Somalis whom I will never entertain the idea of trusting them with my life. The apple in the cart is not balanced in the other side too...Somalis have their qabilist, self-absorbed, bed-wetting dociles too....

^ You guys did the right thing.I have passed through Garissa many times during my primary school boarding era .I will offend some people if I say all the experiences I had in Garrissa back in the days! They used to have the KANU youth people back who will do all the dirty work for the police and CID. I think the people from the other two cities of that province are the friendliest. You might think Garissa people were told they will loose all the "privileges" if they show respect and mercy to their Somali brethren!

Kenya is one of the corrupt country in Africa. This corruption has been supported by a group of leaders who acquire anything at the price of an entrenched, unaccountable authoritative leadership. Hope is not lost as I have read about this young Somali lawyer who is leading the country and unifying them in a transparent constitutional draft that has even been praised by Obama.I was excited to read some of the Kenyan communities even talking about this young chap to run for a presidency! This has never been witnessed in Kenyan Somali history. This is the beauty of education. Abdikadir Mohammed, a Harvard trained lawyer is the face of the Kenya new constitution. I must admit I rarely care about Kenyan Politics after I have left that country more than a decade ago, but this got me interested. Keep the good work brother! The face behind Kenyan New Draft

^ GD, I think that was a midterm exam. Now just don't repeat the same mistake for the finals as they around the corner...I remember one time I was taking pathology midterm exam with 80 questions and I forgot to flip the last page.It was along case study base exam and I was tired at the end..Luckily my professor caught the mistake before i left the room and he let me finish the exam... PS I gotta go and hit them books...it is a nasty week!

Nothing beats our African education system adventure.I was always shackled by my teachers. They held me down in a bent-over position with my buttocks protruding two feet away while canning my asss...Hahahaa...Though my academic freedom views have changed and I don't approve of this principal approach,I still think kids need something to wake them up... My African education system adventure was one of its kind..I dread it up until today, but I'm still grateful and no hard feelings to my former teachers..In Africa I remember my math teacher Monday morning strolling down the hallway you better not missed any of the quiz questions or else Mr. Njoroge was there to torment and torture you both psychologically and physically in front of your peers! Mathematics was my weakest point in freshman high school, but when I was sophomore I was solving all the problems in my dreams... I remember my biology teacher lecturing through the window before he stepped in the class (and your asss better be ready to answer the questions about cell when he stepped inside the classroom)..How about my chemistry teacher Mr. Njuguna making as memorize the periodic table and its molecular formula. If you missed a question you were the joke of the day because he was always ready to embarrass you in front of your classmates if you missed any letter 0r number.. I was surprised the first time in American classroom when I got back my first exam and the teacher folded it nicely , smiled at me and handed my exam to me as if I was buying narcotics..... I'm still thankful to all my teachers for preparing me to fit in any educational system....Discipline was and always be the word!

Ngonge, I have never Seen any clips from Universal.Do you or anyone of you guys in UK listen to Nomad radio? Is it a joke radio station or do you guys take it serious? I have listened to few of their programs on their website. The content of the shows centers around current events, social issues and miscellaneous topics of interest to Somalis. I find the hosts ill equipped to ask relevant questions (or maybe its because they are young people who are still learning how to discuss issues with callers and guests).

was born to a Somali father and Borana mother in Isiolo, NE of Kenya. He did his primary school in Kenya but later moved to Mogdisho at the young age of 12 where he lived till the collapse of Somalia. A graduate of Gahayr University, who also completed compulsory national service at Xalane, he initially fled to North Western Somalia, but returned to his birth country Kenya later Hahaa...this put a smile in my face...You are funny dude PS I have never read any of the said person's opinions...So i reserve my judgments!

Heh..this thread calls for some two cents education of danger of not brushing your teeth! Jesica and anyone who doesn't brush their teeth are ****** or someone with boat-load of money to pay for cavity fillings and expensive cosmetic work. The removal of microbial plaque and the prevention of its accumulation on the teeth and adjacent surfaces is an important aspect of self-perfomed plaque control. Plaque control could be achieved via mechanical and/or chemical means. This is where brushing teeth regularly atleast twice a day comes into play. In periodontally healthy individuals, removal of plaque at least once every two days is sufficient to prevent development of gingival inflammation.Unless you wanna get periodontitis with deep painful pockets please brush your teeth twice a day!

Duke, Since my own thoughts are all i can know with certainty when I was writing the above response it wasn't meant as an Insult.Even Stevie Wonder can tell that you are into Somali politics (clan based)...I'm sorry if you took that as an insult!
-
Duke, That was a brotherly advice...more so of principle of universality we all apply to ourselves....Goodluck!
-
Duke, Before you breath a sigh of relief over Rageh's stand on Somaliland you ought to understand People will always dissent or agree to disagree...Rageh, Bubaa, and the rest of anti-secessionist have a free will to exercise what they deem as appropriate to Somali situation...surely this establishes the case and justifies the praise from you and anyone who opposses the secesionist dream, but you should undertsand just because of individual opinions Somaliland quest will not be dispatched to oblivion... PS I read a post you told us that you grew up in the West -London. For someone who sleeps and walks dreaming about Somali politics (clan based) you haven't benefited from the West intellectual exercise of viewing things from unbiased perspective...
