    Trivial Phobia

Any one know Which one is Abbeesa in English? In my high school in Kenya I remember crossing path with them. They used to hide under the rocks. I like Spiders especially the Wolf-spiders and Tarantullas. They are nice little creatures, but I must admit that I am afraid of the America's South East Brown Recluse. It causes dermatological disaster if it ever bites you!
  2. VAL...Yes we are magnetically atracted to the beauty, but it is wrong for us men to assume that beautiful people do posses desirable characters.Ugghh..why is it a mixed blessing being atracted to beatiful women? They don't come in package.I wish we knew how to settle the tradeoff
  3. I see a woman who thinks she is the most beautiful woman on earth, but I think she is a self-centered person who uses her beauty to shape what others think of her.I see a woman who is showing apple-polishing flaterry to me.I wish her beauty was an illusion that is being used to foster self-esteem.Damn she is beatiful and good for a snap-shot, but ain't worth a share of my attention after I listened to her talks.I see a woman whose stream of her behaviour and self-centered ego making her look like an Amazon creature (though I wish she was).I see a woman with a small nose and nice back.I need to scream deep down to her that Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.Damn she is beautiful.......
  4. First of all let me be clear that I heard it on CNN that it was not madrassa, but a formal non-religious school.Though raised as a christian Obama might have been exposed to Islam in his childhood and he might have been impatient with favorism views of his teachers in Indonesia ("Dreams from my Father").To the dismay of many detractor's of Obama out there he will be exonerated of any charges with his link to the Islamic faith. He is a practising Christain that belong to the Trinity Church.Obama is someone unlike his competitors who practice religious tolerance. I am not a firm supporter of Obama of yet until I see his social security and Environmental Policy stands.I like his charisma of reminding us that Washington needs a change, but for once he never explained to the people how he will conduct that change.Whatever the case Obama has a long way to go.Inhis new book, the Audacity of Hope, president Bush told him that he has a bright future while at the same time there are people out there who would like him to fail (as it is the case of any politician). PS: Excuse my colloquial style there, had to respond it in a hurry....
  5. Brace yourself Londernistans for there is a time where you will not be able to witness any snow if the current trend of American non-binding target of Kyoto Protocal continues.Unless Blair and the rest of the world pressures the super power to reduce their emission there will be no reform from any snow crisis in the world.America is seems to be lead by people with no foresight in preventing climate crisis. If any of you have listened to Bush state of the union adress last night you might have not witnessed no new evidence that America is on the right track to admit Global warming. As long as Bush adminstration is supporting big business like Exon-Mobil which by the way reported last year the bigest record-high profit, you will not in the near future enjoy any snow.America needs a new environmental policy era which I think the bed-wetting Liberals might help give it a leap forward now that they are in control of the houses. As long as America is driven by ad-hoc political presure rather than international priorities I will not be suprised to see another hot weather year like 2006.Have a Snowy day, woun't you?
  6. Its hard to find behaviours that are not in some way affected by exposure to the actions of others.I remember as a youngster sitting next to my dad listening to 9:00 pm BBC Somali.CAwke used to be the anchor.I used to like "Caawaa Iyo duunitha Muuslimka".I haven't listen to the BBC close to a decade now.
  7. Right now at this moment I am thinking of how I can work at Hillary Clinton campaign office in the South East as a volunteer now that she made it clear she would be forming an exploratory committee .But then something at the back of my mind is telling me that I will be betraying my Obama whom I share with some homeland roots .
  8. I heard and this is waxalayiirii hotwire newsfeed around Atlanta Somali restaurants-which bears a big picture of the guy's conviction -that it is daughters grandma back home that did the FGM.If he did it then I think the dude deserves the sentence, but if some else did it then the sentence is unfair.
  9. Meet "Asha" and Jane Doe, new dancers of dirty south moves. It is a hilarious dirty south dance by one and only Somali kids.Men do I love it how they really danced to the moves of the song. The song was the new Summer gospel of A-town.Looool
  10. Duke, I am afraid to say you haven't understood my point.I have no attachement to Somalia as whole except few extended relatives that live in the North.I have no clue of the names you mentioned.I clearly responded to your question above my response.I might clearly appear to you as unpatriotic , butI have the right to disagree with American agression and their refusal to negotiate in good faith .I feel like the TFG that you so proudly defend (which there is nothing wrong with it) are more intent in getting what they want (Power) than on working for the good of the Somali community. The American are a group with an ax who grind anything to get the result they want.I can honestly say that I respect your different point of view.Healthy communities choose to live some differences and resolves others. What I am trying to drive you to understand is that as an American I am not afraid to voice my opinion.
  11. Duke, Let it be noted that I am an American Citizen that have the right to voice my opposition to American Somalia policy.Yes I can say it loud and clear FUUUCK America and it's all Somali Haridans.I'm good to notice that America is wrong.Isn't it amazing that I can disagree with my government without fear? History will be content with the American agression of Somalia. It takes no expert to tell us that for various reason, Americans are doing all these to destabilize the region inorder to get puppet government like TFG in power. The fact poses some dificult problem for those inocent people who are caught in the middle of this war of power. The fact is that each time Somali society make an aprupt leap towards peace some looser who is hungry for power will yell "Power to my Clan".The battle over in Somalia today is a contest between a clear principle on one hand and a clear reality of puppet governement with a power.Today they have the power of the matching feet of the Americans and Ethiopians, will they get the same reception from their own people? There is no mystery why American Issue is flaring up this response from me.It is because I have the right to voice my opinion in open forum without fear of retribution from uncle Sam.

    Arabic Language

Thank you all especially Djib Somali and Kimiya. The free software link is helpful. I have downloaded it on my laptop. The Point, I am sure that the Somali language did borrow some words from the Arabic language, but unfortunately the questions I was asked by the teacher did have similarity with the Swahili language. For example on my first day of the class the teacher asked me, Maa maacnaa dhaftar? This sounded more like Swahili where Daftari means a notebook.Guess what? I got that one right.

    Arabic Language

I agree with Notherner that studying models and drills designated to develop your skills will only help minimal. living in an Arabic country does help a great deal; the more you speak the language, the more freely you become. It is true that Arabic grammar has certain peculiar rules unlike the English language. For example in my last class, I learned that all nouns are either masculine or feminine. The teacher explained to us that the masculine noun is referred to by the pronoun "HUUWAA" while the feminine noun is referred by the pronoun "HIIYAA" whether it denotes an animal or a human being. I hope when all the fidgeting, nose twitching, and fusing with the pen stops, I will walk out at least mastered the common grammar rules.
  15. Language is like a screen or a filter in a camera; it let some meaning in and the same time it excludes others. You have to be extremely good at any language to understand what you are reading or writing. For a long time I avoided opening the real Pandora’s Box in my life. Every Ramadan It is the Herculean task of learning the Arabic language that distressed me. I employed every kind of subterfuge I knew to keep me from going to madras when I was young. I was in a state of rebellion. One day I told my parent point blank that I was quitting madrasa. It took me twenty something years of my life to finally find the panacea of my Arabic language skills. I finally decided to make up for what I missed to do when I was young. I enrolled in an Arabic language class. It is a blistering January night, and inside the mosque, I am part of the new Arabic course student. I am a new student developing the power to master the Arabic language. With a gentle prod, my mind starting looking around whom my classmates’ were. Often at the expense of reason and judgment, my mind exalts imaginations and intuitions while in the company of others. I did not have to look far to realize the nationalities of my classmates; majority were Somalis and African Americans. I could tell from the composure of each individual who was African Americans or foreigner. Everything was similar to my former Islamic school only that now everyone is bearded unlike when I was sitting in a class full of kids. The teacher had the same demeanor of stimulating the student to speak in Arabic right from the beginning. Every time the teacher asks a question in Arabic, I had to concoct an ingenious plan to avoid embarrassing myself. The most graceful rescue I’ve ever witnessed was the Swahili language. One thing that really helped me is that the Swahili language is similar to the Arabic’s. I was lucky that I got everything right. The teacher framed his questions to evoke individual response. I do not know when I would be a voluble informer who would tell stories in Arabic, but I am sure the baby step is worth it. I hope I would be tenacious student who finishes the courses.I hope my bona fide sincere prayer of learning the language will be answered. PS Can any one please recommend Arabic website for the beginners?
  16. Ibtisam, the reason I felt pity for the wife and the kids is because I personally know the lifestyle they lived on. He is the sole bread winner of the family. His wife never lifted a hand to work because of rearing the little brats. I am afraid to give too much information on the web due to respect I need to extend to the family in question. I agree with you families do move on instead of dwelling in pain and agony that will wither them. You and I know that at the end how they will cope up depends on the wife choice. What I am disgusted with is how this man is swerving around this matter as if it is a cake walk on the park. I understand that the man in question have all the right religiously to thrust himself into another marriage. I understand that second wife marriage in our culture is not unimaginable foreign place to us. It is the situation of keeping the wife out in the dark about the affair that is disgusting. It is the wife inability to fend for herself with four kids clinching on her diracc that is disappointing.I am disappointed for the cries and the secrets that this wife and children are yet to find. The reason I was emotional with some (notice this word, I am not indicting every one) of our Somali men is their refusal to face the reality when you try to reason with them .Have you ever got something in the fridge that spoils and rot? What happens when it sats there? It will stink and spread, right? Eventually you will need to remove it before you get the smell on everything, right? If we don’t tell this individuals that are bringing hardship to women, we will eventually end up with a society full of single families. We have to advice and warn this kind of individuals what their actions will bring to the wellbeing of the family. If you want to taste the flavor of a new wife, so be it, but do it in a way that will not jeopardize the lives of those that depend on you.
  17. I will request a pardon for entering this thread. I want to share with you a story that I have witnessed over the long holiday. I met guy whom I share with the same clan .This guy is more than an acquaintance to me. He is a family in a clannish way. I haven’t seen the guy for quite sometimes. Excited about our reunion we chatted and caught up with each others lives. He immediately dropped the news to me that he got a second wife. My jaws dropped as I listened to him explaining how he will support two wives and four children. An instant agony of the poor cheated souls flashed in my memory. The first thing that comes to my mind was the poor wife and the four children that will be notified about their father/husband getting a second wife. I politely asked him if he did notify his wife about the second wife. He brushed it off as if it is a simple matter that will be solved once the news reaches. He quoted religious texts to support his action. I have no qualm about him getting a second wife, but what I begged to differ with him was the way he is taking a marriage as a simple thing in the western world. How in the freaking world would one support four children and two wives on a dead end jobs like driving a cab? Isn’t this a cheat to the little innocent kids that are brought in this world? When the crying and the wailing subsides who would sacrifice financially and emotionally, isn’t the kids and wives? When will Somalian men suddenly remember that honesty in ones own limit of living is not a shame?
  18. Eid Mubarak to Y'all.May Allah bless us all with a great year. PS Iftar Waanagsaan to anyone who is fasting today...
  19. The element that makes up a government corresponds to the element of the individual human soul. If the current mayhem in Somalia should teach us something it should at least gives us clear picture of what the TFG government stands for; plunging Somalia back to safe heaven of Warlords and postwar clan division and nepotism. I was listening to Somali UN deputy representative talking today on CNN , I must say that his denial of what really was at stake-human lives- dumbfounded me. Even though they are the instigators of this war their mindset was all about wining the war on “terror”. Did the seriousness of this accusation necessitate an all out war on Somali people? Where did common sense and restrain gone? One must really look at what the Islamic courts have achieved before supporting the TFG and their Ethiopian poodles. The way I understood is that Islamic courts are more aligned with democracy as they have said time and again they respect the wishes of the Somali people. Their approach to post-war conflict was one that calls for a public election and disarming of all the warlords. The assumption that the Islamic government is linked to terror group is a weak accusation fueled by outside interest in the Somali conflict and one that is rooted in legacy of oppressing the Somali people. What has the TFG done for Somalia? Did they ever initiated a mechanism that can make Somali a viable and functioning state?
  20. From the outside, the golf course looked like a rolled prairie. The green mimics my heightening perceptions of what paradise looked like in my own imagination. I remember peering through the golf courses from outside and seeing it as a world beyond my status. But Yesterday I woke up in the morning; stick my head out of the blanket ready to experience the first ever golf game I ever played apart from driving ranges. My boss , at the expense of the company, decided to take us for a game of a golf. The whole office was to meet at the golf course at 10:00 am in the morning. Good deal I thought, you are being paid while you are playing golf? I have never played golf in my life nor do I own a golf clubs. When I received the email, I cornered a good friend of mine and poured my innocence of the golf game. He promised to bring an extra golf clubs with him. I immediately thanked him and asked him who was making up the teams. He directed me to the organizer. It is to them that I explained how out of touch I am with the game. They promised to team me up with one of the best golfer named Steve. There were total of sixteen players divided into four groups. Each team member has a chance to play while you still pick the best shots out of the four trials. When we arrived at the tee the first group hit the ball with a finesse to keep the ball straight. They all hit the ball with an intention of not hitting the bunker on the filed. Each one of their ball hit straight close to the trap. It seemed easy to see them swing like that easily. This must be a piece of cake, I thought. When our turn came each one of my team mates were all so straight off the tee except me. I wondered if my ball even left the tee. They all offered me encouraging words about how they all started just like me. Steve, the best golfer, tried to show me Key swing tips. He advised me to keep my weight centered and my lower body stable. I wondered how their bodies perfectly balanced when they swing the club. Steve showed me how to chip the ball with my weight on the front foot and my hands way ahead of the ball.He adviced me to use my body to keep the club shaft moving. By the time we reached the 18th hole I have lost count how many times I have missed to hit the ball of the tee.Steve made all the shorts we used.He was so fine that I admired how all his shots had a maximum club face loft impact. Still though there was a hope for an amateur like me. I was good at the putting. I made two putting that saved the team. My putting grips were much better than my driving skills. I never froze in front of the ball just like Tiger does when the ball is close to the hole. I watched the first few putting my teammates made. I made sure that my grip pointed at my stomach and I hit the ball slowly making sure that ball rolls without any bumps. The game of golf is much harder than it seemed in ABC sports. This is a fun game that requires a calculated chipping. An exciting game made me enjoy it until the eighteenth hole. I did not make significant contribution to the team, but I must say that now I know why the rich folks enjoy the game so much. As for me now I will continue to practice my driving range until I get my two feet above poverty. I will buy clubs when I got some extra cash. PS Any golfers in SOL?

  23. Suldanka, I am pleased with the progress above. Do you by any chance have pictures of Salaxley Secondary school? I have donated some of my hard earn dollars to build some kind of a water reservoir there .I need to see some progress like the pictures above.
  24. All hell is getting loose in this thread. I am kidding. I am getting both confused and curious with this crossed talk between the Ausies. Even though it is none of my business but my mind is strugling to find out this “Unknown Known”. Can someone infiltrate these Ausies and extrapolate what this unknown known is?
