P.S. I saw some guys dating un-hijabified girls...and then settling down with ones that are hibabified...and that's nothing with that...so I thought maybe the topic was more oriented towards that...why would a guy date an un-hijabified chick and right about when she falls for him, dumbs her for a hijabified one? I dont know...I guess that's part of life.. See most un-hijabified chicks would not compromise with a lot of things...maybe that's why... It all depends on how you define marriage and your whole concept of marriage. I can kick it with you regardless...but when it comes settling down and talking about kids...you gots to be more modest...like covering your hair and wearing nice outfits...no short skirts or leather pants or tight tights...na mean...stuff like that. And to me, hijabified is very basic...covering your hair with a simple hair cover...like qamaar. But we all know this...and it's very obvious...it's not about what you or I wear...it's about our expression and moral character... I've seen hijabified chicks clubbing and kicking on the DL...so what does that mean?

Hey ya'll...maxaad sheegteen? Well...it's really nice topic...and I know I said I used to have a crush on this one hijabified chick (what a word...nice)... My opinion on this topic: I admire a girl that covers herself..to me...that defines character, modesty, self-respect, and good self-esteem...from a religion's point of view... 'Cuz dont get me wrong...most of my female friends dont wear hijab and they're all of the above. It's the spiritual factor that's missing. I think most guys would rather settle for a hijabified woman cuz that's our faith...that's what marriage is...settling down from everything that you do that is un-Islamic...if you can't...why married...you still can have kids and all the fun...that's why most pple dont have a clue what marriage means or is... So in a nutshell...we are Muslims, and as Muslims, we are obligated to follow what's right, what's halal, what's moral, etc… That's that...

...and now to the topic... Standard of Somali beauty has changed big time, and like others already mentioned, it seems that way for the whole world. But within that same instance, people have different taste and desires and fetishes...all around. Some prefer thick boned chicks while others like myself like tall and slim cuties. I don't know...it has to do with what you desire and appreciate. It's 2006...you gots to look good and sexy all around...

Xafsa, I am all for maintaining a good healthy lifestyle and staying on top of your diet. In my opinion, when you look at our culture, we don't put a lot of emphasis on personal health and diet. Generally, people just eat and they don't bother or care about what they eat....and mostly it's because they don't know. There is a big lack of awareness...and it's our job to get involve in our communities and bring this awareness, specially those of us in the health field. Thanks. Maybe someone can eloborate on this and discuss ways to help out.

Hello peeps, I recently moved to the west coast...it's very nice and I am enjoying my life. I love the weather and the whole atmosphere. The only thing is... I am still new to the city and I am looking for Somali friends to socialize with...basic stuff or should I say, someone to share common interest with (female, ofcourse). Going out for dinners, movies, talk, chill, hang out, etc.. Now, please don't assume that this is a personal ad because it's not! I know some of you will misread and misinterpret this so please just be mindful. Thanks. Just email or replay. I know I am leaving out a lot of details and the whole point of why we should have topics like this...but I'll wait for comments and respond accordingly...plus I will add more ideas and insights about such topics. Have a good day.

This is so funny...I wrote this topic why back in 2002 when I joined SOL...amateur years you know.. Sometimes when I look back and read the stuff I used to write on SOL...it just entertains me. On some topics...I am like..what the heck was I thinking!?...but occasionally on other topics...I am like...that was deep and intellectual. Nowadays, I am hardly online...but I will always be an SOL brotha. It's good to be around folks... Salaamu Alaykum.

Some funny shiznet! Some Somalis folks are at least trying though. It takes practice you. The more weddings you attend or watch on tape, the more ideas that you'd learn, the better your future wedding will be. That's the principle. It all comes down to practice and repition. You good luck on your wedding. Make it a worthwhile one to remember. P.S. One sort of funny wedding I saw on TV: it was towards the end of the wedding where the marrying couples take their turn on the dance floor: okay, the groom was holding the bride's hand by the ARM instead of by the hands (palm); like he was holding as if she was gonna run away like them runaway brides. I was like let her breathe dawg!

Happy Eid Mubaraak! Isn't it FUN?! Dang...you should of seen my boi...he literally walked OUT the door! He was so scared...OMG...you should of seen his face. Dude started reading and reciting the HOLY Qur-an playa. It's fun when YOU do it to someone cuz all you tell them is WATCH the monitor closely as possible while the speakers are blazing crazy...and seen their face lit up...is PRICELESS! No heart feelings for those who flipped and went to mental psychiatric dept.

Lately I've been noticing cops and law enforcements violating peoples' rights and doing unethical work. Be aware of your rights and learn them all. Know what to say when a cop pulls you over for a traffic violation. Don't let them interrogate you or ask you anything they want or feel like. Remember, majority of policemen are incompetent...some with G.E.D's and few with High School Diplomas. I just couldn't stand when people's rights are violated...innocent people. Remember to look smart and talk smart and stay professional when dealing with the law enforcements. Its on.

This is the real reality of the so-called Western Civilizations. To me, this was not a new act of injustice and hate. It happens all the time. Personally, I don't believe in their justice system at all b/c it's all corrupted and dirty. I believe in the real justice that will soon prevail....and only time will tell insha Allah. On a side note: Heard about a crime called 'Driving While Black' DWB..?...it's a reality now. Can't wait to move to my motherland!

As young jiggaz, ain't it cool to have vasectomy procedures, but then as time goes by, everything goes back to normal (vasoplasty)? It would probably decrease number of chickenheads getting pregnant. But then, we ain't no mules; we're real jiggaz

Sanaa Lathan..very gorgeous in 'Love & Basketball' though she gained a little in 'Out of Time' with Denzel. Little thick...but then I don't hate on thick gurls. Most underrated person...have no clue?

Online / Offline personalities, are they the same?
Abdinuur replied to BORN_BRANIAC's topic in General
I write like I was taught...but during offline, I talk alright. I don't like to use slang language or misspell words when I write. Imagine if I did that and it caught up with me and all of the sudden I am writing slang or using improper words on my Thesis Paper...now imagine that...
