I don't mind obeying the law. However, there has to be a limit. The law shouldn't tell us how to live our personal lives. As how we should dress, whether we can listen to music, whether we can watch movies, or what type of tv programs we r állowed to watch. I honestly think we should live our lives the way we see fit when it comes to personal matters. I think the solution is having islamic state that governs us by the shari'a, but that doesn't mean they should force individuals to act in certain way. you cant force anyone, that actually comes against all the principles of Islam. wa salaamu alaikum

In ideal world islamic state would certainly be my option. However, I fail to see what islamic state has to do with Ipod, movies, and so on an so forth. I consider it would be awesome to have a islamic state, but we should still be entitled for our personal choices. An islamic government deosn't have any rights to decide what we should watch or listen to. Ofcourse, it is good to have an islamic state which encourages all of us to make the best choices, bt it is not allowed in our religion to force anyone, so forcing is out of the question. I can't live without my Ipod, so khalaf I am not so eager for your type of islamic state wa salaamu alaikum

^^^Mehiya sister the guy just needs to stop being on that khat thingy. I think it depends how u define beauty as they say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, I personally think a brother who is tall light skinned is hot, one friend of mine thinks darker brothers r for her. so it depends what u think is quite good looking. everyone has their own taste. just what makes me laugh geel jires's post the way he goes whenever i look at the mirror I conclude that all somalis are handsome lol is this another way of telling us u are good looking , perhaps u think u are good looking bt I might tell u otherwise. But, u do have a point we are far more good looking than all if not most Africans. wa salaamu alaikum

Rudy I always use to wonder why u had issues with the TFG and laascaanod. Now I know why. This is the first time I saw you mentionining sland in your posts, so u are pro somaliland, that explains it all I guess. Anyhow, no one is jelous of somalilanders and whatever the think they have achieved, they should just leave laascaanod alone, if they expect to be recognized. Not that I have anything against them but realistically no one is going to recognize them any time soon. wa salaamu alaikum

Nomadique u got that right girl lol, he does have his own writting style indeed. ppl do come online, what is up with ye all?

^^^Xanthus, lol hun u can't come up with theory and exclude yourself. Be fair deee Naden I agree, I don't think whether some one is talkative or not has anything to do with their gender. One would generalize if they said men talk more, or vice versa. It all depends on your personality, there are men/women out there who are talkative, and other men/women might like to express themselves in few words. You will find all kinda people out there. wa salaamu alaikum

I found this in Sweden's local news website, and it is related to the first article that I posted previously. Jail for girl gang muggers Published: 7th July 2007 06:29 CET Online: http://www.thelocal.se/7820/ Over a period of four months six girls aged between 17 and 20 robbed fourteen elderly women in the Tensta, Rinkeby, Sundbyberg and Hässelby suburbs of Stockholm. On Friday four of the girls were jailed by Solna district court, reported Aftonbladet. A 19 year old was given a two month prison sentence and further probation for robbery and falsification of documents. Three 17 year olds were sentenced to youth detention of between two years and two and a half years. The other two girls were given suspended sentences. During the attacks the girls hid their faces behind veils. In one incident, a 71 year old woman was pushed down a staircase after three of the girls snatched her handbag. Prosecutor Viktor Carlberg said that he was largely satisfied with the verdict. "It was serious and repeated crime," he told Aftonbladet negligence of the Nomad parents in Europe Yonis certainly you have a point. At times, some Somali parents neglect their responsibility, and parenting is an important issue which we should highlight. No one should have kids, unless they are ready to take that responsibility, however it has a lot to do with moving abroad, many parents are holding full time jobs. Trying to meet the day’s end. In that case, parents end up spending with their kids much less time than they would have perhaps if we were back home. I am sure most if not all Somali parents are trying their best to raise their kids to the best of their ability, let’s not forget that our parents have sacrificed so much to adjust and deal with new culture, language, and way of life. So even thought they have tried their best there is never anything that is guaranteed. A parent can only try their best to parent their kids and hope that they would someday be role models. Anyways, we don’t know this Somali girls circumstances. It is a possibility that their parents were neglecting them, even though I think at that age they should have been giving back to their families. Or, perhaps it was just an act of being rebellious, I noticed nowadays many teenagers think it is cool to fight or to rob. Anyhow, they are going to pay for what they have done, it was cruel and whatever reason drove them to do it is irreverent, absolutely nothing can justify their inhumane act. Personally, as a Somali sister who wears hijab I am boiling with anger, they should have at least taken the hijaab off. The hijab is not just a material of cloth which u just put on your head. It has a meaning behind it. A meaning which apparently these Somali girls have no clue of. I wonder why they would wear hijaab yet rob, not just rob anyone but elderly ladies who are vulnerable? Oh I am disgusted by this very topic.

I am merely curious, why do Somali guys go back home to find wives? I have seen many guys who went back for that sole purpose. please people do satisfy my curiosity, and no hard feelings. is he picking then for you or he went there for himself From the look of it, he went back for both reasons. Wow Bob lol you are marrying yr third wife, are your other two wives okey with that? or they don't have a say in it wa salaamu alaikum

Waxaay aadi jireen Magaalada iyagoo xijaab qaba ujeedada aay u baxeena aay tahay inaay fuliyaan falal burcadnimo ah oo aay ku dhacayaan habraha taagta daran oo da´da ah ,marmarka qaarkoodna waxaay dhaawacyo u gaysan jireen haweenkaas iyagoo waliba dhacdadaas ku maadsanaya oo ku qoslaya. Shalay ayaa qaaliyadu galeen kiiskaan oo la magacbaxay Gabdhihii burcadda ahaa ee Xaafadda Rinkeby. Eedaynta loo haysto gabdhahaan waxaa kamid ah in muddo afar bilood gudaheed ah aay ku dhaceen 14 habrood oo waayeel, muddadaas oo ku beegnayd intii u dhexaysay bishii November ee sanadkii hore ilaa bishii February ee Sanadkaan. The hell with what your friends an family thinks. if u think u can love him go for him. but honestly I agree with Xanthus he deserves some one who doesn't talk shit behind his back. Life is not about looks. You said it yourself he is charming, he makes you laugh, and that fact that he looks successful. What more can a sister ask for ?? lemme ask you this, why are u hesitating to show him to yr friends is it because he is ugly? is that the only trait that your friends look in a man? appearance? are your friends that shallow? I mean hey it is good to find a good looking brother, bt I am sure if I bring a brother who isn't that handsome still my friends would respect him. That is the kinda friends u need to find The only person you have to please at the end of the day is yourself. Make sure he is what you are looking for. At the end u are the one who is going out with him, or gonna marry him for that matter. Ask yourself CC is this what I want.??? it is all about you, forget yr friends or family, it is your life hun. So good luck with whatever you decide. wa salaamu alaikum

I have to admit that there are many Somali teenagers succeeding in life, helping out with their families, doing well in school, and so on an so forth. However, there are more teenagers out there who are dropouts, and have lost the purpose of life. I will blame the parents certainly; parents do play a main role in their children's lives. But, as u said Kool Kat many Somali women are struggling on their own, for some their husband are back home, for others they got divorced, or those who have husbands who just chew khat. But, we can not always blame parents for everything. I am sure there are many Somali parents who are trying hard yet their kids end up in the streets killing people and what not. I think the problem goes back to the fact that Somalis have moved from Somalia 17 years ago and moved abroad. Most of them live in poor neighborhood, and of course their kids end up mixing with the wrong crowd. How can we prevent that...? a parent can give the best parenting but once that child reaches certain age, he/she will be pressured by his peers , and if he ends up making friends with the wrong people then he will do all kinda things you can imagine. I remember when I was in high school, many Somali kids in my school use to carry knives, and who knows maybe even guns. I still remember when I asked this guy why he is carrying the knife to school and what purpose did it serve; he goes just to be safe. These teenagers are always involved in fights so they are like armed just so they can defend themselves. I am not even certain if we can even help those types of teenagers anymore? Honestly can we? And how? Wa salaamu alaikum

TheStar.com - GTA - Routine border check or racial profiling? Four Canadian citizens on bridal shopping trip held at Buffalo border for 8 hours by guards June 28, 2007 Iain Marlow Staff Reporter Milgo Noor had an appointment at 3:30 p.m. this past Sunday to look at bridesmaid dresses in a Buffalo bridal shop. She never arrived. When the young bride-to-be tried crossing the border with her three bridesmaids – two sisters and a cousin – the women were detained for more than eight hours and two of them were escorted back into Canada in handcuffs. "I'm not a terrorist. I didn't have grenades strapped on my stomach," Noor told the Star. "I'm just an ordinary citizen going shopping." Shortly after Noor, 26, showed her citizenship to a U.S. border guard at the Peace Bridge, more than a dozen customs officers "charged" at her vehicle, starting an ordeal that she said stripped her of her dignity. All four women are Canadian citizens. The family arrived in Alberta from Somalia 17 years ago and Noor has lived in Toronto for the past five years. The women have all crossed the border before without incident. This time they drove a rented vehicle. All the women are practising Muslims, but none wear the hijab. For three of the eight hours, Noor and her eldest sister Rukia, 32, were held in solitary holding cells. After asking repeatedly why they had been detained, they were laughed at by U.S. border officials. "You have no rights here," they were told. "You came to us." Their rooms had a chair bolted to the floor, a wall-mounted surveillance camera and an alarm that sounded every 30 minutes. They were searched by border officials wearing gloves, the women said, as well as being fingerprinted and photographed. "It's one of those bizarre things that you never think is going to happen to you," Noor said. They were told it was a random inspection, she said. Noor said they were held without food or water. Only when Rukia, who is anemic, asked for something to raise her blood-sugar level was she given a Kit-Kat chocolate bar. They sat while border officials ate pizza in front of them. "We asked for water and no one would even look at us. They told us to `Shut up and sit down,'" Noor said. After eight hours, the four women were told they were being "denied access to U.S. soil." Noor and Rukia were then handcuffed and driven to the Canadian side of the border. U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson Kevin Corsaro confirmed that Noor was stopped and turned back at the border. But he said he couldn't discuss details of specific cases. He did say the agency does not engage in racial profiling. Mohamed Elmasry, national president of the Canadian Islamic Congress, said the incident does not surprise him. He says his organization receives about five complaints per week from Canadian Muslims who feel they have been treated unfairly at a U.S. entry point. "They're brown and they have a Muslim name. There's two strikes against them," Elmasry said, adding that had the women been wearing the hijab it would have been three. His organization advises Canadian Muslims to avoid travelling to the United States, and issues alerts before the annual Hajj pilgrimage urging Muslims to ensure their flights do not have U.S. stopovers. On May 5, prominent Muslim scholar Munir El-Kassem was detained during a stopover in Detroit on his way to lecture at a multi-faith conference in Milwaukee. El-Kassem, a professor and chaplain at the University of Western Ontario, said he was detained for four hours, was asked by U.S. officials if he had ever met Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein, photographed and fingerprinted. He missed his flight and arrived too late to deliver his lecture. Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay met with El-Kassem to discuss Muslim profiling by U.S. border officials. An email to Elmasry from El-Kassem, who couldn't be reached, said MacKay asked "for specific cases of border abuse to strengthen his case with the Americans." "Peter MacKay should have said one case is too many," Elmasry said. When Noor was dumped back at the Canadian border, she said she complained to border officials at the Canada Border Services Agency. She said an officer told her this type of thing "happens all the time" and she should research what to do on the Internet. Noor said her family plans to hire a lawyer.
