I think it is important to have a wedding, at least personally it is important to me. It is that one special night to remember and it would be nice to have it I will forever brag abt it Everyone has the choice to have a wedding or to not even bother with it at all. But, I fail to see what having a wedding and working on your marriage has to do with one another. please enlight me? Ibti lol go marry in another country and your relatives wont even make it. come on sis every family have like 8 kids, whoever will pay for all those flight tickets simply to attend a wedding am sure there is enough weddings in London every summer to keep them occupied. count yourself warned. Femme loool so you gonna have a wedding in the mosque so no one attends? or are you having a wedding in a mosque because that is what you think is the right thing to do religious wise. your intentions count you know

^^^I was referring to black girls mainly Jamaicans. I guess somalis are black bt most of us are lighter.
-
loool I don't wanna generalize but from what I heard in rumors in the west end of Toronto many black girls have issues and they would give somali girls dirty looks or pick a fight simply cuz somali girls are prettier. so I guess black ladies not in general bt many of them are a lil bit unsure of their looks. But, this one obviously had some psychological problem. -------------------------- A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. - Bruce L

She wants ppl to pity her so she can be portrayed as this somali girl who beat the odds. lol puhless how many women got the FGM and have like 10 kids. But, Ofcourse FGM is something negative and should never be practiced and it is haraam and unhealthy and all that. But all these somali women trying to make their lives seem so horrible so they could become famous is pathetic. Like Ayan hersi talked abt being forced into an arrange marriage? and later they found out that she was a willing participant, and this other model waris dirie talked abt how she was circumciced at a young age and how awful it was. And now this one ...I think they sort of want to be popular, bt if you want to be a popular figure do it in a more positive means. This is disgrace -------------------------- A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. - Bruce L

Barack Hussein Obama wins Iowa (97% Whites)
Aaliyyah replied to Libaax-Sankataabte's topic in General
It is biased and unfair claim that the media is portraying Obama as the better candidate and due to that Americans are supporting him. This whole argument that Obama talks the talk and doesn’t have experience is ridiculous. Obama is experienced man, lemme just sum up his experience in few points since many people overlook his experience: 1- Obama worked with unemployed youths. 2- He was a community leader and organizer 3- He graduate from Harvard Law school 4- He worked in a law firm 5- He was a professor 6- He was a state senator He achieved all that even though he was born to a teenage mother and a colored father. He wasn’t born with a gold spoon in his mouth. Yet, he beat the odds and constructed a strong experience that meets what is required from a presidential candidate and on top of that managed to be the front runner of this campaign. Obama does not only has the experience but the personality that matches. Obama is young and inspirational individual. There are too many people out there with education and experience. But, that is not where the competition ends you have to be able to connect with people to succeed and that is exactly what Obama has done throughout this campaign. -------------------------- A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. - Bruce L -
Barack Hussein Obama wins Iowa (97% Whites)

Obama throughout the debate was talking about his position and his plans on the many different issues that are important to Americans. Isn’t that what a candidate has to do, try to educate the public on what he stands for. So other candidates will not twist or misinterpret his position. Majority of Americans have responded to Obama well and find him to be the perfect candidate and many have agreed that he had improved his debate skills over the last several debates. Surely, it is obvious by now that Obama comes across more positive and sticks to the important issues. While, Clinton is trying to attack Obama on a personal level, for instance when she said how when one supporter of Obama was asked why he supports Obama he couldn’t come up with one reason on why he supports Obama. She was more or less trying to claim that those who support Obama don’t even know why they support him. That showed that she didn’t respect the voice of American citizens, and if they dnt vote for her then hey they don’t know what they are doing. Does this lady think that she is entitled to win the presidency. Even today, she accused Obama of spreading false information, seriously this lady is better off working on her campaign and what she stands for rather than focusing on Obama and what he says/does if she wants to win in the coming up state elections. This is my thoughts on this on-going campaign, and am sure everyone has their own understanding and interpretations. Wa salaamu alaikum -------------------------- A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. - Bruce L -
I have a younger sis, even though now she is six yrs old and one doesn't have to worry abt her. When she was younger we had to consistently watch what she was doing, when a child is like 1 years old or two yrs they can swallow anything so you have to supervise like 24/7 kinda thing. Walahi I can't think of watching over six kids at the same time who are the same age. I felt terrified just picturing in my head the event you mentioned above lol. sub3analah, May allah swt never test us that way...no disrespect there am just being honest

When will I see you as a Haafidh? In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful Shaykh Yasir Salamah I recently heard an incredibly amazing account told by Shaykh Yasir Salamah, one of the leading Imams and recitors of Egypt. In his audio tape 'When will I see you as a Haafidh?' he speaks of the true account of Muhammad, a brother who after attending a workshop on memorising Qur'aan and utilising all the available mediums, went on to memorise the entire Qur'aan within just 50 days (i.e 2 months) Within 2 months?! Yes. Within 2 months. This is his account and he says: "I declared a state of Jihad upon my soul and put death before my eyes. I made an intention to memorise the Noble Qur'aan. So I abandoned telephone calls and unnecessary visits, and I changed all the negative thoughts associated with hifdh (memorisation) to positive and practical ones e.g. When a thought came to me saying 'I can't do it!' I'd say, 'I can do it.' If it said, 'My memory is weak!' I'd say 'I take pleasure in having a great memory.' I chose the masjid as the place of my hifdh as it preserves three: 1. The eyes 2. The ears 3. The tongue I followed a specific dietary program consisting of eating dates, fruits and honey - and fasting helped me a great deal in that. I used to wake up before salaat al-Fajr by 2 and a half hours and I slept 2 hours after 'Isha. I used to wake up for Tahajjud (the night prayer), prolonging my sujood wherein I would call upon Allaah ta'alaa to ease for me my affair. I would also seek forgiveness 100 times. I began to memorise 5 pages and would recite them in the Sunnah prayers of Fajr. After salaat al-Fajr, I would begin the memorisation of 5 new pages and at the end, I would recite them in the 2 raka'ahs of salaat al-Duhaa, all the time thanking Allaah for easing the memorisation. I would perfect the recitation of what I had memorised by listening to tapes of one of the recitors. I would read about the qiraa'ah in books or via the Muqaddimah al-Jazariyyah (poem on the ahkam of tajweed). After salaat al-Dhuhr, I would repeat everything that I had memorised previously beginning from the 1st Juz, until salaat al-'Asr. After the 'Asr prayer, I would repeat the new portion of hifdh and the juz before. After the Maghrib prayer, I would prepare the recitation of 10 new pages and it was only after salaat al-'Isha that I'd review the Qur'aan with my teacher, may Allaah reward him well. Before retiring to bed, I would listen to all that I memorised in the day from cassettes and I would be sitting for 6 continuous hours, without any boredom or feeling tired. In the 1st week, I would sit for 6 hours, memorising and revising. In the 2nd week, I would sit for 8 hours. In the 3rd week, it was 10 hours and in the 4th week, it was 12 hours. In the last 10 days, I was sitting for 14 hours memorising and revising. The hardest times for me were when it came to sleeping and eating. I ardently wished that the period of sleep would end quickly so that I could start my hifdh of the Noble of Qur'aan. Everytime I began to read the Qur'aan and memorise, I felt such delight and enjoyment that I had never felt before. Du'a was an important factor for me before and after hifdh. I would memorise a page whilst sitting down and then repeat it whilst walking. My teacher played an important role in encouraging me, in revision, in correcting me and benefiting me in terms of Tajweed. In the last week, on the night of 20th Ramadan, only 4 and a half juz remained until completion of hifdh. So I turned to Allaah to open up my way and ease it for me. I went on to memorise it in 6 days with the Help of Allaah. Laylatul-Qadr came, the night of delight and happiness - it was like a wedding night to me. My completion of hifdh took place between Maghrib and 'Isha in the masjid with the Imam and those in I'tikaaf. We began the khatma (reciting from beginning till end of the Book). In the end, during the du'aa, my heart opened up greatly and I began to weep like never before. It was the most beautiful hour of my life. Allaah had honoured me with the memorisation of His Book. During the du'aa, I remembered a dream I had more than 10 years ago… I was a Mu'adhin of a mosque and after Fajr salaah, I sat remembering Allaah in the mosque. I felt sleepy so I took a nap in the middle of the mosque, and behold! I found myself amidst a gathering. A powerful ray of light descended from the sky down to the middle of the masjid. From that light came many angels and between them were 2 big Angels. One of them turned towards me and took me to the light. I entered along with the 2 angels. I then found myself on top of a large green tree - I began to climb it in the companionship of the 2 angels. We found angels standing by the door of the 1st heaven. They said to me 'Where are you going?' They opened up a book and said, 'We don't have your name with us, so climb onwards to the top.' And likewise, all the time (through each heaven), they said the same thing to me. Upon arriving at the 7th heaven, we reached the end of the tree. I found angels standing at the door and they said, 'Are you Muhammad?' I said, 'Yes.' They said, 'Enter, for the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) wants you.' I said to the 2 angels that were with me 'Come in with me.' They said, 'We can't enter. But we will wait for you.' So I entered Jannah and behold, I saw therein what no eye has seen, no ear has heard and had never entered in the heart of Man. Angels were surrounding me and there was a door, on top of it was written (There is no God but Allaah and Muhammad is His Messenger. Al-Firdaws Paradise). The Angels opened the door and I entered. Before me was the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) sitting at the top end and beside him were men, some that I recognised and some that I didn't. In front of him were a very large group of men, women and children. They wore white clothes, and they were so many that they had a beginning but no end. All of them were reciting Qur'aan. The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) called me and I went up to him. He got up and made some space for me. I kissed him and he sat me down besides him. I asked him 'Who are these people O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'These are the people who have memorised the Book of Allaah `azza wa jall.' Inshaa'Allaah ta'ala, the dream ended in truth. I never spoke to anyone about it until the night that I completed the memorisation of the Qur'aan." Allahu Akbar, if this is not tawfeeq from Allaah and determination… I don't know what is! I have received the above email from a friend recently, and I couldn't resist to share. May allah swt give us the strength to refrain from wasting our time on unnecessary things and instead put our time to memorize the Koran. Fi-Amanillah!

Aw, somali isn't that hard. Just practice, if you put your mind to it am sure you will get it right at the end. But, some ppl think Somali isn't worth learning, and if you are one of those type of ppl you are running out of luck. It is all about your attitude, if you want something you should go after it no matter how much effort you have to put in. As the old saying goes " practice makes perfect". hope that helps.

Mostly people call me by my first name, sometimes last name like ina hebel. Other times, they go walaalo or abaayo. I have no problem with anything, so long I know they are calling me. Ofcourse one should refrain from inappropriate language for instance "Naya". That word I can not stand. So long the person is talking in a respectful manner, I see no problem with whether they say walaal walaalo walashiis abaayo or my name. Makes no difference at all. -------------------------- A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. - Bruce Lee

Barack Hussein Obama wins Iowa (97% Whites)
Aaliyyah replied to Libaax-Sankataabte's topic in General
In today’s democratic presidential debate Obama did exceptionally well. He came across as calm and more confident than Hillary. She was defensive and was trying to attack him at every turn. Clinton hasn’t been consistent throughout her campaign. She had used every card trying to outdo Obama. At one time she repeatedly tried to come across as more experienced but apparently that didn’t work. Then, she used “words against solutions” line and that didn’t have any impact on Wisconsin and Hawaii. Afterwards, she even tried to accuse him of plagiarism last weekend and she brought that up in today’s debate. He calmly and clearly explained that these words were from his campaign co-manager and he had the full permission to use them, and that they should focus on more important issues. Anyways, these lines are originally from famous political leaders and basically became a cliché. Obviously, his explanation was not enough, she went to an extent where she called him a Xerox. Talk about being desperate? In all the issues Obama did extremely well today. In health care he said he will make health care affordable for everyone. Where Hillary just wants to force a health care policy on everyone and deduct from their income. In the topic of immigration they both want to accommodate the illegal immigrants and give them opportunity to become citizens. But, Obama went step farther and said that we have to solve the root of the problem, and co-operate with Mexico, so they could enhance their economy and produce more jobs for their citizens, which will ultimately lead to substantial decrease in the number of illegal immigrants to United states. In the other issue, pertaining Iraq and the war Obama argued that he is more prepared to be the chief commander of united stated since he is consistent and was against the war at earliest in 2003. While, Clinton supported Bush’s war against Iraq, and changed her position now. Also, regarding the foreign relations Obama said that he will not only meet and negotiate with his allies but also with his enemies, with no pre conditions. On the other hand, Clinton said her enemies should meet certain conditions and earn to meet the next US president. All in all, tonight Obama came across more ready to lead the nation. Even Clinton more or less has accepted defeat , her conclusion were like a concession speech. -------------------------- A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. - Bruce Lee -
