maryan I think communication is what keeps marriage going. Children alone will not be the answer, if that was the case we wouldn't have so many single mothers with 8 kids? apparently those 7 kids were not enough to keep that family together. I am not saying children are not keeping the family together bt its partial thing. If the two ppl are not happy and content with their life, am not talking abt intimacy necessarily. Simply if those two are not communicating and cooperating well. Then, obviously the relationship will not work. And, dnt mind somali ppl for being shocked, it is not part of our culture to have one child. It is actually almost unheard of, bt as long as your parents are happy with one child so be it. But, i just wonder why did your parents just had you? was it out of their control to have more kids? or they just preferred to have one and why??...kids are blessing and i couldn't imagine a family being happy with one child? ...you would at least want to have 3 maybe 4...maybe more..just to make sure if one turns out wrong, the other one will stick around lol...and if my questions are a bit out of the line you don't have to answer... wa salaamu alaikum Edit: After rereading the posts I gathered that it was Allah's will...and its amazing how ur parents continued to be married regardless of the situation. It takes a lota of iiman..good for them.

Happy Somali day you all..... As for sharing memories I can't remember anything from Somalia since i was too young to remember. But, I do know our independence day is July 1st, 1960 and we should cherish that day till our last breath insha allah. It is a day we should be proud of. Happy Canada day as well to my fellow Canadians. Watch this beautiful clip to show you how happy and elated somalis were to gain Independence, and how we were united. Just makes you understand that so long we are united we can achieve anything...as they say united we stand divided we fall. Enjoy wa salaamu alaikum

Listen to this lecture of Khalid Yasin, hopefully many of you will reflect on your life and insha allah you could benefit from it. It seems we are human and in need of consistent reminder that this life is nothing but temporary. YOU MAY DENY IT...BUT YOU WILL BE JUDGED!! Wa salaamu alaikum ------------------------- From the womb to the tomb. That is the whole trip.

^ you judged them and then you go who am i to judge? what a contradiction. Perhaps they love those white men because they are god fearing men. As islam transcends color. I personally noticed how converts follow the quran much better than us where we tend to take it for granted. So alhmadu lilaah if a sister's iman is strong enough and she can look over the culture gap that we are going to confront when we marry Muslims outside our race. Next time insha allah watch what you say walaal and fear allah swt. wa salaamu alaikum

May Allah swt have mercy on them. It is sad indeed.

Everyone is responsible for his/her own actions. You guys shouldn't talk ill of this guy. After all it is his life and he can as he pleases with it. Just ask Allah swt to guide him....

Happy father's day... Words can't describe how much I love my father and how hard he worked for us. Also, he did his religious duty of raising us good Muslims which is the best gift a parent can give to his children. subhanalah, I believe every day should be a father's day or mother's day for that matter. And, anything we do for our parents will not amount to what they gave us or sacrificed for us. But having that one special day that you do something for your dad or mom is nice. Doesn't matter what you do for them, even letting them go out and enjoy their day out while you take care of the household and what not is even enough. OR, just have a family gathering. Either way take a time to show your parents how much they mean to you and how much you love them. May allah swt reward all the fathers who are working hard for their families. And, may he guide those who are neglecting their families. May your father rest in peace KK wa salaamu alaikum

kids should start wearing hijab from the age of 5 maybe like on and off...get them to get use it. while you explain to them why they are wearing . The meaning behind it...and insha allah as they get older they will wear it. Personally, I started wearing hijab when I was 7, and never took it off since then. I guess understanding why you wear it is important, but you also need to get use to it. You can't just expect a 10 yrs old to start wearing it if you never taught them before...learning is a process..and the earlier you teach them the better. wa salaamu alaikum

I'm happy to be a woman because we are highly regarded in Islam alhmadulilaah. Subahanalah, the paradise lies under the feet of the mothers. What is more powerful than that ?? ---------------------------- Ibn Masoud said, “I never regretted anything except a day that passed by without having increased my deeds.”

He makes sense to some extent but walahi he is hilarious...the way he's getting his point across is just funny. Now I feel guilty for laughing hard while i was watching... ibti thanks for sharing sis. ---------------------------- Ibn Masoud said, “I never regretted anything except a day that passed by without having increased my deeds.”

I have entertained the idea of moving to the states and who knows I might within few yrs. But, there is no way that I want to move across continents and I don't understand why somali families are consistently moving across continents they never seem to be content.

Barwaqo: You’ve always had great hair, yeah? I’m not disrespecting the hijab or nothing but everybody knows it is not important to wear one when you go to a wedding. It’s the Somali way, love. Plus, there are many more looks you can have when you’re not wearing a hijab than when you’re wearing it. You also don’t want to look like an old woman, yeah? I bet Samira wont be wearing no hijab! lol that was hilarious. So true many somalis do ditch their hijaabs on the weddings. Anyways, nice read thanks NG. wa salaam

It is a fact that most girls won't go for shorter men, and most guys won't go for taller girls. But, am sure there is always exceptions to the rule, and if the person shows they have what it takes things might work out.

I don't know why she appraised the ring behind his back? didn't she trust him?? could it be that deep down she knew he was broke?? could it also be that she pushed him to lie...perhaps he knew she wanted an expensive engagement ring? so he just made that up? I know there is no excuse to lie and he shouldn't have, but maybe he just wanted to show off a bit? besides how naive can she be, cant she tell if a ring cost 20 000 or not? lol I would say if she loved him and he loves her,,,there is always room for accommodation. that is my 2 cent.
