  1. Farax walaal theres a somali proverb that says " qof jooga loma hadlo"...don't speak on behalf of someone who's present... Markaa I SAID the phrase "mobile buu qaatay" is a new northern slang that implies someone went crazy. salaaam
  2. lool wa ku dhuftay - he went crazzy...as in mentally handicapped..or no that word isn't used as of late. How about developmentally disabled lol
  3. Nehphisa loool @ who never put much effort...dadka qasab luguma laha ..qofkii hadiyad ku keenana waa la accept gareeya with a huge smile...oo dadka wa la ihtiraama waxaas cheapka ah ee uglyga kula ah maybe yaguu la qurxoonyahay oo niyadooda wa saafi... Accept it graciously and throw it away--this was my choice....and this is what any saint person would do.. Accept it but visually show your disappointment why would you show your disappointment? ma waxbaad qofka u dhiibatay acuudubilaah.. Accept it and a few days later call them on the phone and tell them they're cheap..acuudubilaah qof hadiyad ku keenay miya inti la waco la maagi kara Laugh in their face, throw the gift at them and walk away...caruur miyaa tahay caqliga biya laga shubay... Take it and regift it back to them at some point. If you didn't like someone's gift, why give others what you don't like?? Unless you know someone who would appreciate that certain gift.. salaam
  4. my aunt who came from hargaisa recently told us she heard people saying " hebel mobile buu qaatay" (she understood it as he has a cell phone so she thought so what u know)...finally she was told " naa mobile buu qaatay waa wuu ku dhuftay"...lol. lol just wondering why did you add shiekh sharif to that list of slang ppl use over the net? is there a political meaning you are trying to convey here ?
  5. I agree with Haneefah there is no relaible percise facts about the size of our population. I highly doubt we are decreasing in pop. size.Almost, every somali family abroad or otherwise has at least 7 kids. Ofcourse, in the west the people who are getting married now might not have as many. Given that they are busy with work, and also who knows affected by the western mentality. I myself don't think I will have as many as my mother had may allah swt bless her for her hard work and reward her immensely. I might end up with three or four if I'm lucky. I really still don't know how somali parents manage. Ilaahay bless them all. Lol@ as many as you can. Ha waalin ninka, isagaaba already yaabanee. Lol haneeefah asagaba already yabane iga qoslisay. salaaaam
  6. Ibtisaam May Allah swt have mercy on his soul. And, grant him the highest place in Jannah. Inshallah recite this duca as many times as possible... "O Allah forgive him and raise his rank among the rightly guided and be successor to whom he has left behind and forgive us and him. O lord of the worlds. Make spacious his grave and illuminate it for him"... Sister, I know what you are going through I have lost couple of family members over the yrs. It's hard but sister with faith and patience you will get through this. salaam
  7. Nephisa loool my thoughts were running exactly in the same direction. I've observed that people gain weight after marriage regradless of race. Therefore, I rejected this claims... People remember shyness is part of faith. Do keep the topic as clean as possible, and less personal info (keep it behind closed dooors). salaam
  8. Orange, thanks for posting that link. It's def. a reminder. Born yeah some of the nasheeds I posted are for kids. No that one though, I would think that one would be for everyone to be kind to their parents and not to take Allah's blessings for granted..
  9. Ng walaal I heard about life in Aden. There's this older lady who's my neighbor who shared her life story with me. She said how she went there at the age of 13 or so and brought her younger siblings there. She at that age took the responsibility of feeding and educating her family. Now you see the 13 yrs old kid in the west being spoiled. So yes tough times do produce tough kids. But, at times kids should be kids and carefree. However, who has the means to feed each and every child out there....we need a strong government first. So lets pray together inshallah that things wil turn out better.. salaam
  10. ^There is not much that we can do individually, ofcourse we can send money back home from now and then to support relatives and what not. But, the least we can do is feel what our sisters and brothers are going through and pray that soon there will be a way out and a better future for our youngsters. salaam ---------------------------- Guide me to truth, God I depend on your guidance today Oh God of the universe! you are my aid You are the refuge of man in the afterworld Here I am God, asking your forgiveness Forgive me and grant me my wish
  11. Ngonge they look like kids in need who have no parents looking out for them. Even, if they are not smoking, it shouldn't be allowed for them to put that filth in their mouth. walahi they do not look older than 10 years old. I'm totally against smoking regardless of age, and now they are raising these kids with the mentality that "smoking is fine"... But, smoking is only a part of a bigger problem, that's poverty. Of course once a child has no one guiding him, showing him that he's important and loved. They are bound to do anything from smoking to stealing to god knows what to meet their daily needs and coop with their stress. ilaaahay jidka toosan hadaan somali nahay ha na tuso oo aa noqono umad isku duuban oo ilaahay dartii isku jecel oo dantooda taqaana. salaam ---------------------------- Guide me to truth, God I depend on your guidance today Oh God of the universe! you are my aid You are the refuge of man in the afterworld Here I am God, asking your forgiveness Forgive me and grant me my wish
  12. subhanalah it breaks my heart to see kids smoking at such a young age. They most likely do not have anyone to look after them. This reminds the rest of us not to take what we have for granted. peace, wealth, love, and family. And, to always be grateful and praise Allah swt for his blessings. May Allah swt establish peace in Somalia.. ---------------------------- Guide me to truth, God I depend on your guidance today Oh God of the universe! you are my aid You are the refuge of man in the afterworld Here I am God, asking your forgiveness Forgive me and grant me my wish
  13. Gheele lol@ dont tell anyone. you just did
  14. abu looool and what city you hail from? back home I mean. And, I thought Marc was here on behalf of Riyaale. Or maybe I was mistaken Personally, am okey with the decisions Shiekh sharif made. There's more to government then whether every tribe is represented. Inshallah in the next 2 yrs we will get peace throughout somalia. salaam
  15. I was watching this yesterday... Egypt has beauty that is so distinct and original. It's a country with amazing history.
  16. lol ok I give myself 5 points, I have to work on my arabic . I'm thinking of going to egypt for a year. I always wanted to go to dubai. But, it's too westernized. Therefore, I have changed my mind. salaam

I also think he said something abt "do you have enough bread water and rice"..lool is that close loool

  20. Amazing arabic nasheeds. The kinda nasheeds that have good themes. check it out inshallah. Some of the nasheeds I posted are 4 kids.... حياتى كلها لله بابا تلفون
  21. I don't think its appropriate to work out with your jalbaab on besides the safety reasons you wouldn't be comfortable working out dressed such way. I would say make use of "only women" gyms and also do work out women hours @ your campus gym. If there isn't women hours at your school make it. salaam --------------------------- amusnaan wa ogolaasho badhkeed...
  22. Khamees or no khamees, my head would be on a plate if i brought home that kinda sheeko. lol pucca so trueee... --------------------------- Amusnaan wa ogolaansho badhkeed.
  23. Read my post again as you totally misunderstood me. I do not know this guy and I wouldn't rush to assume. However, I said "most cases" that's the key word here "most" not every case is gang related. inshallah May he rest in peace... I have heard young somalis being killed in london in large numbers. Samething has started in edmonton and Toronto. so when am trying to get our community to get together and preach their younger generation am not neccesarily pointing finger at specific individuals and labelling them gangs. As a community we have to come together even if it to defend our innocent young people who are getting killed??...do you know in edmonton there were so many who got killed yet from what I heard most cases were not followed? like we dont have a community who will fight for their innocent people to attain justice? so a community has to defend their innocent people who are getting killed, they also have to change their youngesters who are in the wrong path. It goes both ways... salaam
  24. am aware of that. However, in most cases the victims are people who are involved.... qofkii dadka banaanka ka jooga oo noloshiisa iyo waxbarashiisa daneeya way adagtahay in lasoo daandaansado. Laakin dabcan waxkasta wa dhaci karaan oo qofkasta waqti ayuu leeyahay ..ina likuli nafsin ajalin musama..hadii naftaada gashay way gashay. ama miskiin ahow ama qof waxa ku jira ahow. Laakin badana qofkii dadka amaan siiya oo noloshisa raacda way adagtahay in uu dagaal ama waxaas dhex galo.. salaam
  25. oh my god this brokes my heart. These kind of stories makes us realize as community we have failed our youngesters.Every community has strong role models that kids try or strive to become. But, most somali young people are trying to look up to rappers, people who are living gang lives...subhanalah! may allah have mercy on their soul...and grant them Jannah.... dadkoodana sabar iyo iiman... Today when I went to the mosque the imam was talking about that this life is temporary..ina hayaati dunya matacan qaliilan.. And, how we should avoid distractions and focus on ibaadah(worshipping). subahanalah everytime you hear of someone died it's just a wake up call for those of us still breathing. So, as as muslims and somali community lets come together and help one another. First and foremost each of us need to make sure that we are following the right path of Islam, our own soul and self is the first responsibility on us. And, then do something useful for our community inshallah. As somalis say "nin naftiisa dar yeela tu kale ku dara".... salaam
