  3. I consider myself Somali Canadian you have to be grateful for your adopted country that gave you an opportunity both to educate yourself and to live peacefully. But, am proud of being Somali alhmadulilah and I do have my dhaqan/diin.However, that doesn't mean am going to live in Somalia. I think it will take another 100 years Somalia to reestablish itself to a point where I CAN SAY hey I can live here and start my family. At the same time that doesn't mean I WANNA live here, only Allah knows where my next destination will be but preferably a Muslim country. with that being said I will not talk abt Somali people and their problems. I have done that over and over in many of my posts. All I CAN say now is lets make duca for the people abroad and those back home.. salaam
  4. People have negative idea of the the concept raaliyad/raali. Its nothing more than a couple who want to please one another's needs. After all marriage is to complete one another. so if a guy doesn't want to be raali, and a girl doesn't want to be raaliyad..STAY SINGLE, then you don't have to go out of your way for anyone salaam.
  5. Faheema I doubt theres any moral side to this story, unless I missed something. But, at least NG is practicing his Somali writing skills... salaam

  14. 3) Now this is a tricky question, see after being on sol for a little over 2 yrs i've learned that genders change and its best not to expect much or ask questions; reason being you can never be quite sure whether the answer you get is the truth or not. Now dear if you're ever interested in someone it would cause a bit of a problem since no one really wants to accidently 'hit on' the wrong gender. Lol pucca...you knew back then that ppl in here change genders. so is it some sort of trend for Sol... salaam
  15. mashallah your somali is improving... salaam
  16. TORONTO — A 44-year-old Toronto man with swine flu and "a chronic pre-existing medical condition" has died, Ontario's acting chief medical officer of health confirmed Monday. He is the second Canadian to have contracted swine flu and then died. Dr. David Williams said the man died Saturday, either while en route to hospital in an ambulance or shortly after arriving at hospital. "All we know is that the death happened very quickly," he said. He could not say what the man's underlying chronic condition was. "I'm going to have wait until the coroner finishes (its) investigation into the matter and would . . . make some findings known to my office." Williams said previous to his death, the man, who has not yet been publicly identified, was tested for swine flu. On Sunday, the swabs came back as positive for H1N1. "Right now we don't know whether that had anything to do with the person's death or contributed in any extent. We have to wait for the coroner's office to investigate that," he said. "I think it would be premature to assume the H1N1 itself was the cause or how much it contributed." Williams could not say when those results will be available and it depended on what type of testing the coroner's office undertakes. "They may want to do some sub-cultures on tissue parts," he said. "And viruses do take some time to grow." Williams also reported there are 58 new confirmed cases of H1N1 flu virus since May 22. Williams said they range in age from one to 69 years. There are more than 800 cases of swine flu in Canada, and Ontario has recorded the most swine flu cases nationwide, with 352 people reportedly suffering from the illness. He said the virus is "certainly still circulating," but added, "it's slowing down." He said those most susceptible to swine flu include people over the age of 65, those with such chronic conditions as severe pulmonary diseases, or those in immune compromised situations, those with chronic conditions on immuno-suppressive drugs, medications. He said "some are cancer survivors, some are dealing with transplantations . . . that make them more susceptible to the severe impacts of any virus infection." Two people, who have the H1N1 flu virus, are in hospital with a number of underlying medical conditions. In April, an Alberta woman died and was confirmed to be the first Canadian death connected to the worldwide H1N1 flu outbreak. The woman, in her 30s, had a mild case of the virus and Alberta health officials said she also had had chronic pre-existing medical conditions. According to the World Health Organization 91 people have died from the virus worldwide including 10 in the United States. The seasonal flu causes three to five million cases of severe illness a year and according to WHO, kills between 250,000 and 500,000. In Canada, it is estimated that between 4,000 and 8,000 people can die of influenza and its related complications yearly.

  20. Exactly. I know bad news sells but there lots of Somali organizations that fundraise and lobby for building/improving hospitals and schools. You are absolutely right walaalo. And, I am 100% behind all those organizations who care for the well being of their people. But my point was lets not waste money on killers that way it prevents people from killing innocent people. And, that they will know if they kill someone they will also be killed. Theres no way out. a soul for a soul. salaam
  21. Today I went to Friday prayer and bought Khalid Yasin's DVD called " stranger" awesome video, I highly recommend it
  22. Seriously how many times have I seen ladies knocking on doors collecting funds for reer hebel who have to "defend" themselves from reer hebel? That's true people should stop fundraising money when someone kills someone who's innocent. Look whoever kills someone should be killed. Recently there was a story where a man from a subtribe killed a man from another subtribe. And, what happen was the subtribe that lost a man came to the other city and said we want the guy who killed our man, and he was brought to justice and got killed. so if we kill every man who kills someone am sure somalis would hesitate and think twice before they point their gun at someone. Enough paying money for someone who's a killer..whats the point of saving him. Think of it the only reason people are so encouraged to kill is cuz they know their families will pay some amount of money..what was it called in somali I forgat. Anyhow you got the point right lets fundraise money for hospitals, building roads, schools you name it... salaam
