sister100 you gotta be stronger than this girl, why did what few guys said in a forum make you decide against marrying somali guys. Somali guys are not the same. Get to know the one you liked. In fact on a forum many people are not themselves, they just say things for the fun of it. They are not necessarily serious.... take care sis... salaam

How can you have doubts with God's creation...??if thats not enough I don't know what is? I think it would be nice idea to watch many converts and the reasons behind why they converted and how the Quran makes so much sense and doesn't contradict unlike other religions... youtube it.... watch this one and many others....alhmadulil ah....if christians or people of other faith are seeing the truth. How can we muslims doubt the Quran for a sec. Subhanalah!! salaam

I know its okey to pray for him. My aunt who passed away several years ago may allah have mercy on her soul used to always bring all of us together and make us read quran for our grandparents or anyone who died in our family..and just muslims out there. we would come together cook a huge dinner read quran and what not..so that's fine. I don't doubt for a minute that people can gather together and pray for the dead person/ppl. But, to celebrate? that's different I assume. salaam

within the somali culture we have tribe issues, like hey we prefer your man to be from so and so tribe. Forget other race. But, alhmadulilah so many families became more religious and try to look beyond one's tribe, race. it wont happen over night but people are changing now and coming to understand that deen is all that matters. so I can understand where your parents are also coming from. Inshallah as long as you bring someone's whose decent its all good. even though i can understand your parents want someone who can speak the same langauge and understand their culture better as oppose to a muslim man from another culture/race. But, as long as you get a muslim man whose practicing his deen the right way regardless of his color, that's priceless.. salaam

^am glad to know you don't want to rush...keep it that way. At least till you'r a bit older, cuz ur the same age as my second youngest sister and just looking out for u...

^ I think most pakistanis are very cultured, even though somalis are cultured many are a bit easy on it. I am wondering what your parents would say if you wanted to marry another race? my afgan friend's brother married a pakistani girl and both of their families made a huge deal about it. even though i personally think afganis and pakistani are close culturewise (or maybe not)...so am just wondering what your parents would say when you bring a somali dude? ofcourse all the families are not the same...and theres no need to generalize..just wondering? salaam

sister your only 17 and you'r thinking abt marriage? theres nothing wrong with it, but I would say you are in a stage where you should be focusing on your education and letting yourself grow and learn more about life in general. just my advice..you'r too young to be thinking about settling. salaam
