The 1st time the situation was in my family, lets just say I 'assumed' it was far greater than the 'average' rate and was sorely disappointed! lol Serenity am on the same boat as you I had my own assumptions most weddings I attended I never bothered to ask the details abt the meher. Anyhow, this one time I attended this meher and I was told and my jaws dropped not that am a gold digger but sidaado kale i thought it was a whole lot more. Anyways, afterwards people explained to me and they said it depends on the understanding between the two people..there is no fixed price...bt at least on average I thought people paid a decent meher not what was paid at that particular meher which people told me its what ppl mostly pay...anuu kolay qaali baan ahay shekadaas ma igu bixilaheen hahaha The least I've seen was hmmm well nothing, Sheekhii aya ku dhhay atleast wax uun waa waajib, and the sister asked for "Kitaabka Musxafka ah Cawaale, kitaabka musxafka ah? Doesn't she have a plenty of them at home. I could have gave her one while she asked the guy something else salaam

This video gives me the creeps. Especially, when the little girl was crying...islaanta kulaheed she became a woman :eek: As they say education is the key. We somalis mainly somali women have to work hard to educate other somalis. Primarily the ones back home that still condone this horrible/heartless practice. I think people should just leave their girls alone. Even the sunnah one is not necessary! salaam
