Its neither good to be athoritarian nor permissive. Those are like the two extreme ways to parent, and neither is good for the long run. You either produce a child who cant do anything without being ordered, or a child who does whatever and who is irreponsible and do things however they please. And, neither of them will be productive later on in life. On the other hand, Authoritative parent is setting rules, in life you will have to abide by rules even as an adult.Yet they allow their child to make some decesions praparing them for life where you will have to make decisions on your own. So, its definitely the way to go... Also, i dont wanna generalize but somali kids? many of them lets not say all lack manners. They are loud, impulsive and just out of control. am not sure why? where exactly are somali parents going wrong. For instance, the other day i was at the macdonalds and seriously you see a lady with her two young white kids and she asks them what they want they tell her in a polite way. And then here you see the somali mom with her five kids all yelling on top of their lungs as to what they wanna order? no manners ..walahi i dont wanna sound am racist against my own people...but this is not one incident rather I seen it many times with somali kids whether they are at the mosque or outside. Where are somali parents going wrong???!!...Could be cuz somali parents specially moms allow their kids whatever they want? and that reinfoced the bad behavior? like the more you do what the child asks the more he/she is going to ask? like theres no limit? they dont set rules?... share your thoughts.. Good luck those of you who have kids its certainly not easy. salaam

For the part where you said somalis in london are more cultured. The reason could be cuz there are more somalis in the uk than there are in Canada and maybe they are more connected.. And, theres a chance that they send their kids back home more often than those in Canada. As for the part where they are lazy? I would say maybe its their system, the government is so easy on them compared to the canadian government. am not saying canadians dont get welfare or government housings. They do and certainly without a doubt many somali canadian abuse it and just you know dont work. But, I think europe in general is easy on their immigrants so again its just about relativity. As for the gang part, both canada and the uk have somali kids joining gangs and wasting their life way, i dnt have any statistics to say canadian have more gangs or the uk, maybe there are more gangs in the uk cuz of the ratio again more somalis being in the uk than here. okey this is just what I THINK...no offense should be taken and instead we should bring about how we can contribute and change our people for the better... salaam

I would say instead of limiting your food intake. You can just decide on a normal food habit, not overeating or anything. And, working out in the gym. That should help you live healthy life and you would probably be fit if you maintain it long enough. salaam
