I think Minnesota is a union-friendly state, at least that`s where the headquarters are for my union(UFCW) and actually also the headquarters for my company, based in Roseville MN. I asked my boss one time what were the chances of me being able to transfer to their factory in Minneapolis and he didn;t give me an asnwer, so Im guessing slim to none

Well once this is over I`ll get a nice pay raise insha Allah and lots of back pay too, so I`m a union supporter at the moment
-
Yep, and those union dues are tax-deductible so I usually get it all back when I file my tax return. April is usually a good month for me.

Not in Canada, we had thanksgiving last month, I wonder why we have it at different times. Oh well, hopefully I`m off on Friday. Eid mubarak!!

You don`t have to be a member if you don;t want to, but you still have to pay the dues because the union is required by law to represent you whether you`re a member or not(if it`s a unionized workplace) Before, the non-members didnt have to pay dues but the union still had to represent them and file grievances on their behalf etc. and most of the paying members didn`t like that, obviously it was unfair that they got the same services for free. I didn`t really care but I was a minority in that group. This is in Alberta btw, the laws vary from province to province.

Some cadaan music for you.

I mean back on the picket line. Instead of going to work, we were picketing on the street in front of the factory.

I work hard when I have to The whole situation isn't over, but the labour board suspended the lockout for 30 days and forced the company back to the bargaining table and to accept a "Rand formula" which means every employee must pay union dues but they don't have to be a union member if they don't want to. The union is required by law to represent all employees whether they are union member or not, so it's only fair that they pay the dues. But if there is nothing worked out by Dec 12th, I might be back out there on the line, I don't think that'll happen though, at least i hope not, I already spent 7 1/2 months out there, that's enough

Mr Houben said that at first he felt angry at his powerlessness, but eventually learned to live with it. No kidding, I'd be a little pissed off too. Could you imagine living like that for so long, being able to understand everything around you, yet having no way to respond?

I tried the "match the name with the object in the picture" thing, and failed miserably

Managed to sleep in yesterday and ended up late for work by an hour and a half, not bad for being back only a week Maybe I need to start sleeping earlier than 6am....

^LOOOOOOL beautiful kids, I guess 9 months from now, there's going to be a boom in the hospital and health services industry Originally posted by nuune: A slap in the insufferably smug puss of Thierry Henry, whose appallingly effeminate Christian name, if indeed he is a Christian, is an added insult to all red blooded and red haired Irishmen. Isn't he Muslim? I'm still waiting for Henry to make a Maradona-style "Hand of God" excuse for all this.

Can't believe no one's talking about this: DUBLIN -Ireland appealed to France and FIFA on Thursday to replay their World Cup playoff after an obvious hand ball by Thierry Henry set up the deciding goal. Ireland's government and soccer association asked for Wednesday's 1-1 draw in the second leg at Stade de France to be replayed. France advanced to next year's World Cup in South Africa 2-1 on total goals. FIFA said it received Ireland's request for a replay, though it was unclear if the governing body of soccer would seriously consider it. Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni called the prospect of a rematch "impossible." Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen said he would "have a chat about it" with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at a meeting of the 27 EU leaders in Brussels. link

The world wouldn't be any better if women ruled, just different problems that's all. I could see a female president of the USA going to war with some poor foreign country to "liberate them from their awful selection of shoes"

Well, Canada's not in it as usual, so I have no one to cheer for. Someone pick a team for me.

Meh, more of the same nonsense from Peacenow. Sadly, our religion may say to treat our brothers and sisters fairly, but it's not happening and that's just how human beings are, and Allah SWT will judge them, as He will judge all of us. If there was a sudden influx of Arabs or Indians into Somalia, you'd better believe that Somalis would be just as pissed off. So what?

LOL that Muriidi's an eccentric, to say the least. His location says Vladivostok, I'm thinking those Russians really messed with his head.

LOL let's see if J11's in the giving spirit I never had a problem when I was in the east end and I must've had "foreigner" tattooed on my forehead, the only person within a 50 mile radius with a hat and no jacket on, but then again I only went for vacation and I'm a rather large gentleman Yeah, take everyone's advice and get yourself a roommate, or better yet go back to Sweden, it must be better than London, at least I don't hear SOLers complaining on a daily basis like they do about UK

I fell for this a long time ago, it ain't gonna happen again. Yes, it's one of those scary thingies
