Ethiopia has been trying to annex Somalia with the help of the TFG for the last 2 years, does this writer not read the news? By the way, how is that working out for them? Not very well, last time I checked. These 2 countries can't control their own areas, let alone try to take over Somalia on top of it. It just ain't gonna happen.

This is some impressive dialogue going on here, going back and forth from English to Swahili. I think I'll call it "swahenglish". Kinda funny that I was just listening to Swahili music about 5 minutes ago....

Is it just me, or does it seem that the Indians and Pakistanis celebrate Eid on a different day from the rest of the Muslims, every year?

@ Ngonge: I wouldn't mind if a Sijui woman put a spell on me. I ain't picky.....

^ I may have voted for them if this was 10 years ago.... As an Albertan, it would be foolish for me to vote anything other than Conservative, and not only due to the fact that yes, any vote other than Conservative in Alberta, is a wasted vote. The fact of the matter is that the oilpatch is a major factor in Canada's prosperity of late, and for Stephane Dion to scare off the corporations from the oilsands is, in my opinion, political suicide. If that happens, I think we may see our country slide downwards with our neighbours to the south. I'm sure we won't see any of our Somali brothers in places like Grande Prairie and Fort Macmurray vote Liberal, because they know their jobs possibly depend on a Conservative government. The Liberal party says they will create "green" manufacturing jobs, but how many "non-green" manufacturing jobs will be gone as a result? And where will these "green" jobs go? Ontario and Quebec, like they always do. The prairie provinces never factor into the equation in a Liberal platform. As for immigration, it's a non-issue for me, obviously. All the people I know are either in Canada already, or don't want to come to Canada anyways. Besides, my ex came to Canada while the Conservatives were in power. Just because there's a right-wing gov't in power doesn't mean immigration comes to a halt. Everyone knows that the future of this country depends on our immigrants and their children. Last I checked, white people weren't having children in record numbers. MMA, yes, the NDP's in Saskatchewan were responsible for Medicare, but that was a long time ago, and now that it's here, it ain't gonna go anywhere, regardless of who's in power. Politics is a matter of "what have you done for me lately?" and the NDP's or the Libs have done nothing for me lately.

^Welcome back, Dr. WOL and Eid mubarak . As for high altitudes, Calgary has quite a high altitude(1100 metres, or around 3500 ft. above sea level) and I've never had any problems with it. But that's nowhere near as high as some of those places in South America.

This is interesting, I always thought Eid-al-fitr was supposed to be money, but it's actually meant to be food, and it should get to the needy before the Eid prayer? I guess it's too late for this year but I'll remember this for next year insha Allah. I guess I could bring food, but I ain;t got much in the house right now, unless they don't mind Kraft dinner Eid mubarak everyone!!(that is, if it's tomorrow)

I just realized that this is the perfect time for me to say something I've never said before. Wiil iyo caano, gabar iyo caano!!

Has to be sanbuus for me, I like it so much, I learned how to make it. And I just stuffed my face with them

My Ramadan is going great now alxamdulillah.

Boy, this just ain't fair, everyone in England is stuffin their faces and I still got 2 1/2 hours to go But I'm getting through it fine, like I said the first day usually goes easy.
-
I find the first day goes well for me and then gets harder as it goes along, maybe because I'm enthusiastic about Ramadan at the beginning, then I'm not so enthusiastic 2 weeks later.

Interesting look into the mind of Layziegirl But what town do you live in? I thought you lived in Toronto, maybe it's Kingston.... Anyways, I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a fast-growing city with a population of 1 million and quickly rising. This place is starting to get better, but honestly I'm not here because I really want to, rather it's better for me and my family to stay here rather than move. At least the weather is half-decent in the winter, considering this is Canada. As for London, I absolutely loved it and can't wait to visit it again insha Allah. It's the complete opposite of Calgary in regards to culture, the different kinds of people, the restaurants, and regrettably, the number of jobs. I'm not sure if I'd want to live there because I think it would lose its appeal after a while, but I would entertain the thought of living elsewhere in England, like Leicester or Sheffield or some place like that. But I'd say my ideal place to live would be Toronto.

Actually, the only person who hasn't accepted them is you, so good luck with trying to be the spokesman for the Somali community because you obviously need to work on it.

Jibis, hilib lo', I'm a food expert. Too bad it's not good for my health One of these days though, I want to slaughter a cow the xalaal way, seeing as I've witnessed the deaths of hundreds of cows already, it wouldn't faze me.
