  1. Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1oECAYOlmE Yes, that is me, but there's no way I'm gonna put myself on video, trust me it ain't a pretty sight. But if you look at the shadow to the left of the TV, you can sort of see me dancing like a spastic maniac.

When I started there, he told me I would be considered self-employed, and I would pay my own taxes at the end of the year. When I quit, he didn't even give me a T4 slip(Canada's version of the slip that tells you how much you made, how much taxes you paid etc.) So after I got laid off from the job I left the mechanic shop for, I applied for Unemployment insurance, and I included the hours I did from the first job, because I didn't have enough hours from the second job. I had all my hours recorded in a book and showed it to them, and also showed them the makeshift "T4 slip" they gave me, which was just a piece of lined paper with the total amount of money I made. I even told them that I didn't report it on my income tax(because it was already the next year and I had filed my taxes already). It took the unemployment insurance people around 4 months to decide on a ruling on the case, but they finally got back to me and told me I wasn't self-employed(which I guess was obvious, but I didn't know at the time) and sent me 3 weeks worth of UI, about $1100. By this time I already was knee-deep into the cow slaughtering business and that monmey was all extra, so I ended up blowing it all on a huge party that weekend They never actually told me what they were going to do with my old boss, but I'm guessing he got in big sh*t....
  3. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who's worked in a slaughterhouse. But that wasn't my first job. My first job was a heavy duty mechanic's helper, fresh out of high school and age 17. I helped change motors, driveshafts, transmissions, differentials, did oil changes, got ridiculed non-stop from my boss and the mechanic, and got the nickname "Guido" somehow, all for the extravagant wage of $5.50/hr. Oh, and I also inadvertently got my boss in trouble with Revenue Canada for tax evasion. I was only there for 4 months before I found a better job.

Welcome to the site Tusbax, a fellow Canadian and female too!! Care to tell us if you're available? Someone was gonna say it eventually, so I figure I should beat everyone to the punch I'm also in Kanada, but nowhere near Toronto.
  6. This place is going to be always filled with old men sitting, chewing khat and talking about politics anyways, so might as well give it a politics-related name.

Unless, the arab countries condemn America & severe ties, sheekadu waa sheeko xariir. Actually it is a bigger deal than it seems, because a lot of the US's cocaine comes from Bolivia, which is a neighbour to Colombia. The US may be fighting a "war on terror", but they're also fighting a war on drugs and this surely won't help that cause, but then again I don't think US and Bolivia had very good relations in the first place.
  8. These guys look like they should be doing some kind of Odey Shirwac gangiistar song, not this type of music....

  22. Originally posted by Nephisa: ps. Has anyone heard of traveling to Syria for dental work? I have heard that it is 1/10th the cost of work done in N/A and I am curious if anyone has traveled out of the country to have such work performed, and if they were satisfied with the results. I have actually heard about this as well, but the thing is that maybe the cost of getting the dental work done is cheaper, but you still have to pay something like $1500 for the plane ticket(at least from out here) and yeah, there's the question of how good are the dentists? I imagine their idea of an anesthetic is a hammer blow to the back of the head.
  23. ^He's right though, you'll still be paying for the benefits even if you get no work done, so why not get that grill you always wanted?
