Yeah it kills around 3% , mainly elderly n sick. Still that big number. The biggest hit is global supply chain impact, we are adding additional 4 weeks as of today on all our deliveries and have informed our customers.

First of all cancel all flying plans. Airplanes are the worst places to catch the virus. I heard today in the radion that about 8,000 Americans in California are are under watch. Plus the Americans do not have enough testing labs for the virus. The fear is that large undetected and untested people could be coming in America from different places. Here in Canada they just caught a person who flew from Iran. Canada is well prepared. Warya Tilamook, since you are in California , that is where all the quarantined people in America are , so get your masks and avoid crowded places.

As U.S. mulls using sweeping powers to ramp up production of coronavirus protective gear, this thing is becoming very serious. What are your thoughts? Are you putting travel on hold?

THese stupid leaders were playing with the lives of helpless population. Waar bill ka hor baanu lahayn waar wadanka xidha inta uusan ina soo gelin. MMA, Dhaqankan ah waxba ma awoodo wax shaqaynaya ma ahan. If you are a government you try your best to feed as much people as you can. No one is asking them to give people cash, but their are ways to help those who are weakest among society. Millions are spent in government ministries and other bureaucratic operations. Those resources must be diverted to social services and food distribution. It amazes me how Somalis who were in the diaspora and have seen government operations and how companies organize things and manage become dumb and knownothing once they go home. Somali leaders have seen about a month ago the news of major nations introducing curfew and keeping people inside home while paying them to stay home. When you see that you must shop for food around the world, especially to Turkey, USA and others and buy as much as food you can find in the market and bring home. It might take a month or more but it could arrive before things get worse. Now, the virus is here and there is no need to look back, but to look the future and mitigate the virus people and minimize the death of the poor Somalis. In 2011, when the worst drought hit Somalia, the government of Shariif Ahmed and C/weli Gaas had spent almost $12,5 million to the office of the president while spending similar amount to the government ministries. International donors found out that in those tough days of 2011, Somalia had spent only $50,000 dollars for social services. The Farmaajo government will be judged how it acts in these tough times. THere are ways to feed people. It will cost much less than what the government spends in its bureaucratic government ministries. Other than security and military every dollar must be used to distribute food to the people. There are indigenous relief organizations who had mastered food distribution and drought relief. Amoud foundation and Mercy international are among them. They will deliver the food with fraction of the corrupt government managers. They spend only 9-11% percent for administrative costs. Also, this is an opportunity for the government to show that Somalis have someone who will be there in their times of need. I saw in the news the mayor of Hargeisa threatening tea shops vif they dare open for business. THis fat cat probably doesn't know what is essential service or a retail market shop. The tea shops in Hargeisa are a lifeline for the poor and those unemployed people walking around. Find a way to reduce the crowd, but not close them for good. Rather than threaten people divide the city in zones and try to feed the most vulnerable citizens.

Somalis Over-Represented Among Coronavirus Victims in Stockholm, as COVID-19 Reaches Blighted Areas Members of the Somali community complained that the authorities' information about the spread of coronavirus was insufficient and came too late. To rectify this, materials in 15 languages are now being distributed. The city of Stockholm has reported a rise in COVID-19 cases, noting that residents of so-called vulnerable areas are over-represented among the newly-infected. At least six of the 15 who died from the coronavirus have a Somali background, national broadcaster SVT reported. At the same time, a spread of the infection was reported in the Järva area, which includes the districts of Kista-Rinkeby and Tensta. Up to 90 percent of the population of these communities have an immigrant background, and they feature in Sweden's list of vulnerable areas. A local doctor suggested to the Expressen newspaper that the virus could have spread several weeks ago, during the Friday prayer at a local mosque. “When [coronavirus] spread to Sweden, there was not so much information in Somali, and many continued living as usual,” doctor Jihan Mohamed, board member of the Swedish Somali Medical Association, told SVT. Mohamed suggested crowded conditions as one of the explanations to the over-representation of COVID-19 cases among fellow Somalis. “Many live in crammed quarters there. Several generations can live in the same apartment,” Mohamed suggested. She also believed that cultural aspects may have played a role in the spread of the disease. “In Somali culture, it is important to socialise, support and visit each other, especially if someone is ill,” she said. Somali imam Hussein Farah of Rinkeby's Islamic Cultural Centre suggested that the authorities' information on coronavirus in languages other than Swedish was insufficient and came too late. Mohamed Nuur, chairman of the Social Democrats in Tensta, called the lack of information “heartbreaking”. Amid the spread of the coronavirus in the blighted areas, the authorities are at pains to distribute information material in 15 languages, including Somali. Residents are reminded about the importance of social distancing and staying at home. To better reach to the growing migrant community, national broadcaster SVT has started texting their news broadcasts in Arabic. SVT cited “the great need for information due to the coronavirus epidemic”. Several other media, including Expressen, also produced Arabic and Somali material to accommodate non-Swedish readers. Sweden's Arab-speaking community has by some estimates grown to become the country's largest, surpassing the speakers of Finnish at some point after the 2015 migrant crisis, when 163,000 asylum seekers from predominantly Arab-speaking nations entered the country. Sweden's Somali diaspora has been rising since the 1990s, bolstered by refugees from the Somali Civil War. Today, it is estimated at over 60,000, with over half of them retaining their Somali citizenship as well. Their vast presence earned Rinkeby the colloquial nickname “Little Mogadishu”. According to official statistics, Sweden had a total of 2,272 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The average age of the infected was 54, with men constituting 54 percent.

Business as usual at all Somali restaurants and other gatherings. You see many of them are coughing and look they are in bad shape. I would not be surprised if our community is hosting the biggest infection cluster. We know the hygiene of our businesses, mosques and gathering places are not something to be proud of. Allooow sahal.

Whilst the spread of coronavirus disease is alarming to some, I urge you all to keep the number of deaths caused by this disease in perspective compared to other pandemics/epidemics that have come and gone in the past. That being said, I do believe the world economy could take a big hit this year if the wholesale quarantining of large Chinese cities continues. Just imagine how this effects China’s imports and exports moving to and fro the rest of the world. Many sensitive and on-demand supply chains for major industries around the globe are gonna feel it for sure. Add to that the obvious downturn it will cause in tourism around the world with many countries and industries relying primarily on Chinese tourists.

I saw people running away, towards my side, on the train, had no clue what was going, then I saw Chinese girl on train, sneezing, and flu like systems. We live in strange world. This disease is meant to be population control

I even heard people dying in Ethiopia for unknown diseases. I can not accept that the only country in Africa who is bringing over a thousand Chinese a week, and as mony more transiting did not declare yet one single case of Coronavirus. Ethiopian airline is flying four major Chinese cities. They are probably hiding or not even testing.. The Iranians hided their cases and now people are dying. Over 200 died in Iran, yet the government declared 34 deaths. Ilaahayow naga hay.

I wonder what is going in Ethiopia. Lots of Chinese there doing business. If the virus spreads in Ethiopia, it is over. That nation doesn't have the means and the discipline to deal with pandemic. It will be a disaster considering its huge population which is largely poor.
