You often hear the new generation of Somalilanders disseminating terms such as "qadaad-weyn" and what not against other Somalis, particulary Southern Somalis. It is ironic that the ignorant description Richard Burton used to describe the people he saw in British Somaliland in the mid 1800s is being regurgitated and used against other Somalis. In personal appearance the race is not unprepossessing (not particularly attractive or appealing to the eye). The crinal hair is hard and wiry, growing, like that of a half-caste West Indian, in stiff ringlets which sprout in tufts from the scalp, and, attaining a moderate length, which they rarely surpass, bang down. The jaw, however, is almost invariably prognathous and African; the broad, turned-out lips betray approximation to the Negro; and the chin projects to the detriment of the facial angle.

Oodweyne, we all know what image people are trying to conjure up when they use the term qadaadweyn. I was expecting you to admit the proximity but pass it off as "kaftan-rageed". I never expected you would cover-up its meaning.

Thank you. I missed that one, but is in the article. If chaos and murder of other Ethnics is way to gain power, why would others not try it too. Every other nationalitiy's Farx can have a go at it as short cut to power.

maakhiri1, I just read an article, looks like written by Amhara person about Oromo PM: Lema Megerssa is not qualified since: 1. He did not make any statement telling his QERO not to kill people of other Ethnics in Oromo region minimum and taking action would have been quality of leader 2. The call coming from Jawar and OLF makes it clear why Lema did not do anything but sweet talk empty Ethiopianism 3. He did not pass grade 12 with credits enough for university even on second try, but started work in government and somebody in government wrote a letter for him to attend Civil service college 4. Has no experience in dealing with diplomacy and the weight of Ethiopia added 5. Has no experience in dealing with neighbouring countries 6. Why cannot be another Oromo qualified even if insisting Oromo is wrong 7. Why cannot be from other nationalities 35 million people is no qualification or reason. An eye opening article.

The problem now is not construction of GERD that is done, few corners left and Egypt will not stop it, but if Egypt succeeds in chaos, the next PM can agree to fill the dam in 7 years which means 7 years 4.8 billion just waiting sitting there. The main problem now is filling it. That is when the Nile maybe reduced temporarily. Sudan has said fill it as fast as possible. If Ethiopia has its way it will fill enough to start generatin in 2 years and the complete fill in 3 years. Example: Mengistu from Zimbabwe (through his daughter since he is not allowed to involve in anything about Ethiopia) issued a statement and video stating that "GERD is Weyannie conspiracy to start war with Egypt" Weyannie answer was " We are not hurting Egypt, no reason for war. We are also not cowards like you and see our people starve. The Egyptians also know us as much as you do with your 1/2 million army in north" Mengistu would be ready to fill the dam in 10 years as long as Egypt helps him overthrow Weyannie. And children of mengistu are many and would not hesitate.

Oodweyne, can you post here the article you wrote for former President of Somaliland when you were his speechwriter in 1991?
